I started my search for a Z at the start of January this year, and this article was around back then. At the time I didn't understand the landscape.
I think the best acceleration time I've seen was a 3.9, though I can't recall who clocked it. Definitely an automatic. I do recall, however, that it was very difficult to repeat with any consistency. Times varied from that rather respectable sub-4-second run to nearly 5 seconds. Yikes.Car and Driver tested a 9AT Performance - just a 2023 model this time.
They got a 0-60 of 4.3, but, again, with 91. They think 93 might get them below a 4.0 based on their experience with the manual (4.5 w/91 vs. 4.1 w/93). I'd like to see a Sport tested to see if there are any differences.
It kind of seems like they want to hate this car.

It has perfectly acceptable acceleration. If you want to get a smile, checkout the 0-60 time for the stock 240Z.
This is fact. Admittedly, I'm irked that the traction issue is holding back the car's launch capability to such a large degree, but ultimately real-world driving just isn't well represented via these test numbers.Completely agree. I plan on driving the Z on the streets, not at a drag strip.
