Hi, my name is Brian and I'm a Z DoorDash Driver!

I received my Z June 14th, and I'm loving every minute of it! I started DoorDashing right away and the first day was one of the fun-ist work days. I couldn't get enough!

Some of you guys may see me as I Dash around (ha). I already know that the cops are keeping an eye on the only Z in the area.

In this post, I want to explore the car as a Daily Z and report back to whomever is interested. I'm a fairly detailed person, so I will also be reporting on flaws, hiccups, bugs, as well as great things I find along the way.

If you guys have any questions, any at all, about details or anything, ask and I will do my best to answer. I'm definitely excited about the interactions.

5 Things I've noticed Daily-ing the Z:

5. The rear view is pretty good. Even with some pretty large plastic bags of recyclables, I could still see out of the rear window. You can put some fairly tall items in the trunk.

4. The passenger-side quarter window is "useful", but the B/C pillar can hide like 2 cars side-by-side at a 45-degree angle. Pulling out of Drive Thru's is a task.

3. The Automatic shifter is weird, but you get used to it. If you liked the famed Killer Shifter in the Jeep Grand Cherokee that killed an actor, it's similar but much more thought out. Neutral takes a half beat (Manual says 0.5 secs) bump of the shifter to engage, and Park as a button for Millennials is different. I like it though.

2. THE GAUGE CLUSTER SHOWS THE SPEED LIMIT! I know this is a small thing, but I buy whole cars based on the small things like this. I appreciate it.

and #1. You can pull up to you destination, and just turn the car off. Like DON't park the car. just... turn it off. It puts ITSELF into park and turns off! This might be a Nissan thing already, but I'm impressed! It also will just put itself into park if you open the door too.

This is fun. Learning about a new car, yes, but also having a car that is exciting enough to talk about.

More to come!

At least you have the side indicators to tell you when someone is in your blind spot. I love that they are inside and not in the mirrors.

It depends how far away the other vehicle is.
I never trust these "idiot tech" and have to see it with my own eyes.

Definitely try it out. For me, basically if it's on, there's a car. It turns on exactly when the car next to me disappears from my view. And I have to trust it because that car there is completely gone, I have to lean to see it.

The fuel gonna take half your doordash tips 😂
Yeah, but it's basically the same as driving my '16 Jeep Cherokee. Still figuring the numbers, but its about $40-$45 a day here in Michigan (and Sam's Club prices) for me to do 8-9 Hrs of DoorDash, vs $35 a day with the Jeep Cherokee.

Interesting to find out that there is an orange spot light (dim overhead light that shines on the center console, like interior red police car light) in this car. Great attention to detail adding this. So many cars don't. Very useful.

Congrats on the Z.

Regarding blind spot indicators, I have it in one of the cars. There are limitations. Works fine when the other car is traveling next to you but I wouldn't soley rely on a warning light to turn on. It will not warn me in time for that person flying up the blind spot or coming towards me at an angle such as pulling out of a drive thru as you mentioned. I see these cars before the light goes on.

I have my mirrors adjusted properly so when cars dissappears from the mirrors, its in my peripheral. I adjust my side mirrors so that my car isn't visible. Where the inner edge of the mirror stops is where my car starts. If an object goes past the inner edge of the mirror, I'm bringing the car to the body shop.

With that said, the blind spot in recent Z's are horrible with the small 1/4 glass and thick trim panels. Gotta to do a quick prayer when you are at a 45 degree angle trying to merge into traffic.

16' Cherokee gets 21 MPG city
Z gets 18 MPG city

Cherokee takes reg gas while the Z takes premium though.

That's ~$12 difference for a gallon of gas

This light was there on my 2012 G37, but white/blue. It illuminated the metal trim around the gearshift lever. Always liked it, but parts bin. Did the 370Z have it?

My 2007 Titan has the same light, I changed mine out to a slightly brighter red LED.
Must be a Nissan thing, none of my other brands I own have it.

(Math 🤦‍♂️)
I've actually been averaging 21.4+ MPG in the Z if I don't run the air (or race people). My '16 Jeep Cherokee needed fuel injectors. Before I changed them, I was getting 18 MPG. After change 19-20MPG. Yes, the premium is more ($3.26 reg vs $3.92 prem), but I made room in the budget for "Fun Tax" lol.
