I think the best acceleration time I've seen was a 3.9, though I can't recall who clocked it. Definitely an automatic. I do recall, however, that it was very difficult to repeat with any consistency. Times varied from that rather respectable sub-4-second run to nearly 5 seconds. Yikes.
The best i have seen is a youtube reviewer who got 3.7 with the auto 😁

Those times in the 3 sec range are 1000% with 1 foot roll out added in

Oh, guaranteed. Anything in the 3's is completely a roll-out-included figure.

I love my Z. There are however definite shortcomings compared to some other cars on the road. I firmly believe it has nothing to do with Nissan’s ability to build a high performing sports car. It has everything to do with financial position in the market place and things of this sort. 1st off. Things like tire size and compound come to mind. The Nismo needs to be the top performer off the showroom floor. For things like a 0-60, if you took a Z Performance and gave it a little massage with some aftermarket goodies and a stickier tire, then the numbers between the Performance and the Nismo would look a lot different. All of those magazines are in the pockets of a handful of companies is you ask me. I honestly wouldn’t doubt one bit if their pockets get lined for each favorably written article by some companies. The Z was made to create a feeling when it’s driven. It does this well. PS. I live in lame California and have gone through the tuning process with a Q50. Our 91 sucks compared to 93. Where I live, it’s not easy to get 100 to mix with the 91. The only saving grace would be a full E85 setup but then I would have to drive to another town to get it and gas mileage suffers. Did I mention that California is lame?
