Your dealer flat out lied to you. The Z is 91+ per the owner's manual. Putting 87 in would be just asking for reliability/durability problems.
Thanks for the reply, yeah they are not coming across as the most reliable people when it comes to this car, they are a bunch of dopes to be honest, thanks for the info and help.

Wait, weren't you the one just complaining that the Trucontrol sucks on another thread?🤣🤣🤣

I never said it sucked, only that many people have issues running it but the reason for their issue is simple, more boost and insufficient stock cooling is a recipe for disaster.

You're welcome! At least car salesmen and service advisors are all the same/predictable regardless of boarders!

I cannot imagine the performance diff with 87, I felt it in the butt gauge on the one occasion I had to use 91 due to a road trip. Maybe it was in my mind but I don't think so.

I have a sneaky suspicion the dealer will give me the car with a tank of 87. I have zero trust in them.
They absolutely will. Ask them to please not fill the tank.

A dealership put 87 in my C7 once, and I had to run 91 on a few occasions in both my C7 & C8... Horrible.

I've always used 93 but tried various brands. When I first tried Shell 93 Nitro+, I noticed a difference with it. My Z purrs like a cat with it. A wildcat. ;) I'm sure I wouldn't be very pleased with anything less than 93, in general.

I use Costco 91 (Tier 1) since She’ll 93 has limited availability here. Bonus is Costco is $0.25/litre cheaper than other neighbouring gas stations.

I picked my Z up in NJ and ran 93 until 93 wasn’t available as I traveled west. My butt dyno doesn’t have anything but the car definitely ran smoother on 93.

We can only get 91 in western Colorado. Does anyone have any info on octane boosters or point me to some reliable info?

Best and most effective octane booster is going to be E85 if it's available near you. Adding 2 gallons to your tank will get you back to 93 and still be perfectly safe within the fuel trim parameters.

Additive type octane booster bottles from the auto parts store are expensive and hit or miss in effectiveness.
