Got pulled on by an older WRX, 2004 or 2005, had an aftermarket exhaust and who knows what else, and was FAST. It’s the first car that I have not been able to pull away from. We stayed even from 35 until about 80 when I let off for safety.

I just have CAI and Stillen TruControl, I had it on MAP 4 at the time.

I wish he would have stopped so we could have talked but he turned off quickly.
From a roll or dig?

roll, we were going about 35 he was a nose ahead of me when he punched it, traffic was clear ahead so I punched it and we basically maintained our positions next to each other until I let off at about 80mph, he let off a second later. He got the jump on me for sure. I think I may have started to gain on him if we had more room but I'm not sure.

You would have pulled ahead on Race 7. Maybe not walked away but I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t have been side by side for long. The only problem I’ve found with the app is that you can’t race and increase the profile at the same time without a co-pilot

35 to 80 goes by really fast in these cars! It was a flash for sure.

Took the day off. It’s cold but dry in North Ga. Went to lunch in Cleveland and then proceeded up 129 to the top and over Blood Mountain. Finally got a little alone time to take a couple photos. Police presence was surprisingly high today.

Got a great run up 129 (Blood mtn, not The Dragon) with the exception of this dumb shit in an F150 who thought he would drive in my lane, towards me. I mean, completely in my lane. Luckily it was a section where the N bound side had 2 lanes going up so I had somewhere to go. F sake. It was pretty icy on the rock walls on Richy B.

Definitely see the need for sway bars at a minimum, jury is still out on springs vs coilovers. I like the adjustability of coilovers.

All In all a great day and no tickets.

Added Swift springs. Progressive, firmer but not harsh, buttoned down, no bottom-out on RR tracks and dips, great so far. If need more camber, SPL arms next. Gotta get baselines first.

I chose the Eibach Pro springs but the one day I had the wheels off to install them I had to abort the project, so I guess I'm waiting 'til spring. The Stillen sway bars and Conti tires already made the car feel more planted and hope the lowered CG and improved aerodynamics do as much for the Z Performance.

What settings do you have the swaybars at? I need to do that as my last mod and get better and larger tires when the OEM tires are worn.

When I got the car I took it on a favorite, fast windy mountain road and felt it dive in a few turns so I did the sway bars first, and it helped. I followed the recommendation from Stillen for an otherwise stock Z; middle holes in front, outer holes in rear. With this setting and then the Continental EC Sport02s I put on right before winter fell, I had a last chance to drive the car on another favorite road, and it was just great. They say as you make changes with sticky tires and better suspension you can stiffen the bars as needed. I just wanted to take out some of the squishiness and slipperiness when I tossed it around and I'm pretty happy with this setup. As I wrote, I've got the Eibach springs on deck for the next warm spell, so we'll see if that warrants an adjustment.

Every time I think about making a change I turn to Mike at MotoIQ and listen to his calming voice until the answer become clear. He speaks about suspension like a Zen master points the listener toward enlightenment.

@VtVince totally agree stepwise is always best, feel the improvements, instead of throwing a bunch of upgrades all at once, sometimes negating gains. I started with the middle front, now at stiffest, noticeable improvement, tighter flatter cornering. All depends on what you want and where you drive. My Swift springs enhances the sways even more, but not too much to give up ride quality and bottoming out. Brakes will be tackled next before tracking in March, a must. This Z is turning out to be a fun project!

Well... Time for me to start researching Eibach vs. Swift springs on this platform! I've had both brands on previous cars and appreciate the progressive spring rates.

*EDIT*
Appears than Swift only has the R springs available for the Z and I have no interest in a linear rate lowering spring on a street car, so, Eibach it is! I was always very happy with their springs on my Evo X and ex-wife's WRX. I had Tein then Swift on my Evo IX. Swifts were all the rage for S2k's too.
