Yeah it seems some of the sales teams & managers maybe only consist of newer employees that just started their careers during pandemic and all they know is price gauging strategies during crisis and shortages, now they have a whole new game on their hands how to move product when oversupplied and nobody wants to pay or can afford to pay MSRP.

I’d be happy to pay MSRP now knowing the current low production volume, but once inventory picks up, plenty will hold out for lower.

Really pathetic. Is this low production solely due to the paint shop difficulties? Surely they need to build more - this, the Skyline and the Q50 can hardly keep those workers gainfully engaged.

Paint issues at the factory are reportedly fixed as of a couple months ago and honestly for what the car is and what the market is like at the moment It's kind of high production now. Unsold Z s are stacking up all over the country.

The same factory also makes the Ariya where most of the priority lies anyway

I knew they made the Ariya too... I don't know if it's on the same physical assembly line or parts of the same line. That's technically possible. Also whether the Ariya uses the same new paint process or not.
Nissan needs this problem fixed since they also need to make as many Skylines and Q60s as possible to satisfy those (dwindling) demands. The only reason this new Z exists is because it shares a platform with those two vehicles. It couldn't exist otherwise, from the 350Z on up to today. The Skyline, Q50 and Z live and die together. When they are gone... the Z in it's current form is also gone. Therefore sell and build as many as possible without delay.

yeah Tochigi is GTR Z Q/Sklyine Ariya same line same paint process. the Ariya had some delays over it too. basically it was quality control from the fully automated system.

the Z still has additional slow downs because the two tone cars have to have the hatch painted manually

I was thinking about this over the weekend as I was perusing Zs for sale online. I wonder what is truly suppressing the demand for a vehicle that was, at least within a section of the automotive community, very highly anticipated. Is it the price, like the actual MSRP? Maybe it has to do with the somewhat lackluster response from the big auto publications? Hell, maybe the Z's just much more niche than it was 10-15-20 years ago ??‍♂

I was looking at the 350Z, and bought a G35 instead. Then, I looked at the 370Z, and bought a G37 instead. I loved both the G35 and G37.

So then the G37 is getting long in the tooth, and I start looking. Hmm, maybe a Q60. Nope! No more Q60. What's going on with the Z? Ooo. 400hp? I'm in.

I gotta say, I love the Z. Sure, it's a step below how posh my G37 was, but it's hella fun. I don't get why this car isn't everywhere. I guess folks have given up on driving.

Oh well. Their loss.

It was the shit-show rollout of the Z. Originally supposed to be a 2022 MY launch.
Then no where near enough made to get enough people into showrooms to at least have a look. I hated going to dealerships over the last 3 years, so depressing to see the empty lots and greedy markups.
I also feel the same way about the Integra Type-S, Civic Type-R and GR Corolla. Trying to get your hands on one of these INTENTIONALLY under-produced vehicles totally and completely saps my enthusiasm for them.
I'm not going to play games because a manufacturer wants to limit a vehicle and the dealership doesn't mind because that means even more profit.

for perspective the last full year of 370z sales was 1955. so the Z did not even beat the lowest single year 370z production
