What tires will make this squirrely ass car behave?

Part of the fun of owning this car. It wants to kill you!

I use 305/35R19 Nitto G2s. They work well enough. But I am also tuned and anything below 40mph in the dry warm weather is sketchy.

I just got the Yokohama Advan V107 and they bite.

When you floor it they grip, no spin, even between 60-70kph when you gear down and floor it, its planted and they’re good around corners too.

Really happy I went with the Yokohama’s as a daily here in Australia.

Weather is warmer now as hitting summer, in the mid to high 30°C’s; it’ll be 37°C tomorrow so nice and hot.

Apparently they’re good in the rain.

When I need new tires, plan to get the Michelin PS4 summer tires. Keep in mind the tru control is not a real tune, so it just tricks the car to make more boost, and it's not linear. If you get a tune, they can do boost by gear, and other ways to help control the torque hit that causes wheel spin.

PS4S are very good. Although, the Dunlops on the Nismo are great at the moment, but tire life is already a factor at just 2k miles.

I’ve lost the rear end twice in a Nismo on stock Dunlops. Personally I don’t like them and they’re not stable in all conditions. I’ve driven RWD sports cars for years.

Both times VDC was on & kicked in. Yeah, the tires were not dry but they felt like slicks.

Once was in the rain, the other time I just drove through a curb puddle & punched it pulling out into traffic. It hooks when it’s dry, but I hesitate to drive it in the rain. I’m buying a set of Conti Extreme Contact 2s or PS4S. ASAP.

Yokohamaa? They do look nice & fit the car. I don’t think you can find Advan Sport A/S+ easily if you have a staggered setup. Whats the ones you’re recommending when it’s wet?

The G2's are a solid tire and I'll probably switch to them when these potenzas get toasted or the Pilot sports.

I love how everyone in this entire forum keeps slamming the trucontrol as "not a real tune" lol

Why would I do FBO, custom flash and void a warranty when I can get almost the same power for $550 and keep my warranty. Makes no sense.

My Potenzas lasted 9000 miles of just driving, mostly highways, some harder driving when I installed the Tru Control. The Potenzas lack good traction on dry roads. I came out of a construction site doing 65, hit the gas to pass a couple of semi trucks, and my ass end list spun the tires. I was driving normally, I was going to CA from ID. Coming out of Jackpot, NV, both my rear tires were flat. They were through the cords on the inside of both tires. Had to have the Z put on a flat bed, towed 1 hour back to Twin Falls when I was able to get a pair of A/S tires at a Point S. I have to admit, for a cheaper set of tires, it was like $370 for both rear tires mounted and balanced, the tow was over $200. I have put 4,000 miles on those tires, and they are not showing wear; they have better grip and control, and they don't lose traction as easily in the rain. Now, ice and snow, my Z is just not designed for that. I tried to drive it, and she just wanted to spin tires and turn doughnuts. So she is in the garage under cover for the winter. Tires are just too wide, and the car has way too much torque, even trying to leave in 3rd.

The Dunlops won't perform as well as any true all season tires on street and weather conditions. They're on the performance, even max summer side, and need proper warm up before pushing them. They do well on performance tests though, but softer compound = less miles is a given.

I got the Continental Extreme Contact DWS06. They totally changed the way the car handles!! Can’t recommend them enough.
