I could use more bolstering. One option is the OEM Recaros but is the bolstering that much better than the Performance buckets? I know will lose the seat heaters and power adjustments but are the airbags totally compatible plug-n-play? The older Nismo Juke Recaros were more genuine and had great bolsters. I have to retain the bags, still under warranty for a few years so don’t want to hack up any wiring.

I sat in a Nismo and from memory they are nice. If memory serves, I think they may even be more comfortable while having more secure bolstering. However, you will have to conceive a strong male child and then give him up for the purchase price of the factory Recaro’s.

I personally like the nismo Recaros. Ive done quite a few long hauls and spirited drives in it now and they hold me in well and do not cause me any discomfort.
Granted, i am 5'-6" and slim, so I fit pretty well.
If you're larger, it might get uncomfortable as the bolstering is aggressive.

I'm 6' and if I were a few inches taller, it would be uncomfortable to sit in the car.

I love them…just the right balance for zipping around corners to extended drives in my opinion owning both a new and 370z Nismo.

On another note…I’m looking for carbon fiber seat back covers for the recaros. Found these out of the UK but not seeing many options online. I think the seat is the same dimensions 370 to new Z !?šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

Anybody else did any research or have them applied?

The center section where the cf covers go look identical, but that’s just from comparing 2 pics. Top is the 370Z, bottom is the Z.

FYI, if you unplug seat harness(es).
Before disconnecting anything, disconnect the battery and let the ECU, etc. drain. Do not reconnect the battery until everything is reconnected. I assume the RZ34 is like my Z33ā€˜s and many other cars, and will throw the airbag warning/light that may not go away on its own. Neither the factory reset sequence starting up the car nor my scan tool would reset it. I had to take it to a mechanic with a legit scan tool to clear it.

Buyer advisement:

The "Nismo" Recaros are HALF of the Recaro Sporster CS. Specifically, the upper half of one, with a tweaked cushion design. The bottom is just a regular seat.

They did the same thing on the 2015+ 370Z

Bizarrely, the Nismo Juke RS got full Recaros

Pre 2015 Nismo 370Z did not get Recaros.

AFAIk no 350Z got Recaros, unless its some limited edition Japan spec variant I haven't seen.

The actual Sportster CS is around $2K

A Nissan dealership will charge you double (each)

Used pairs, somewhere in between, depending on condition.

Bear in mind that if you are around 6 ft, you will not gain any meaningful head clearance with any reclining seat due to the bottom mount and sliding rail.

I am 5'11" - to fit with a helmet without bashing my head on every turn, I had to get a full bucket, side mount, no slider. Now I have 1 inch clearance with a helmet. This switch required going with a harness, instead of factory seatbelt, so it's not a light move.

Also, as a practical matter - don't spend any big money on a seat without sitting in it first, ESPECIALLY if you intend to track it.

I test fit a Recaro SPG XL at a Recaro dealer, and thank goodness. Although I fit, they caught that the harness holes were too low, such that my harness would sit at a dangerous angle. Basically i'd die in a crash from it. Found a Sparco with better hole positioning for my frame.

Good points and yep the Nismo Juke got full Recaros, wonder if the airbags are compatible though, swapped to an RZ34. Right on with the safety issue regarding harnesses, if the shoulder holes are too low you WILL compress your spine in a crash, a very bad thing! Review the proper angles on shoulder belt mounts and seatback angles, on harness bar, roll bar/cage mounts, etc.

I have seen Juke Recaros installed into the Z34 but I do not know what, if any mechanical or electric modifications were necessary. They also seem to fetch a pretty penny on the used market, so it is a matter of availability.
