Thanks for the picture. Where I live front plates are mandatory so was curious to see. With a front plate mounted, in my opinion it will soften the look of the front grille…
Agreed, it will reduce the apparent acreage of the grill by breaking it up. It's the worst feature of the design by far and needs any help it can get.

I don’t think it looks that bad if you can get a custom plate with a black background. Enforcement of a front plate in Texas has been pretty lax so I’ll take my chances without a front plate.

Same, in the 12 years I drove my Supra without a front plate I was only pulled over once. Last time I checked it was only a $20 fine or court fee after you put on a plate and take a picture for the court.

Our plates have blue lettering which at least won 't clash with the blue paint.

That doesn't look bad if you need a front plate. Getting a carbon fiber plate would blend in really well.

In WA state I have seen many cars opt to have the front license plate "chopped", they cut out just the rectangular area around the numbers and mount that on front. Turns out, the front plate just needs to have it's numbers clear and legible, no need for the rest of it, unlike the rear plate.

that doesn't look as bad, but the standard texas plate is a brilliant reflective white, which will look like teeth in the z's gaping mouth ?

Front plates really don't do any favours to the front end appearance of just about any sports car. For example, check out how plates spoil the front ends of the new twins:

And cooling. It needs to be covering the bottom two rows of the top grill. This is where the bumper support is, so a plate here wouldn't interfere with anything.
