I have silver and like it a lot, but I got it used and there would have been a huge price difference to track down a new midnight purple.
New vs. new I would go for the purple

I love the bronze wheels, I want a set.26 Heritage, due to low production numbers and unique color it will be the better of the two in the long run. Thatās if youāre planning on keeping it.![]()

I think the midnight on this car will be like the Monterrey Blue Pearl and LeMans Sunset, desired now and in the future.Hey all!
Iām the current owner of a beautiful 1973 Datsun 240zā¦but Iām looking to get out of vintage ownership and want a real weekend driver. Iāve decided to pull the trigger on the new Z.
I have two options in my area (all manual):
1) silver 2025 performance, ~52k
2) midnight purple 2026 heritage, 58.5k
Iām stuck!
- The silver is priced well, but in photos it looks sort of dull. Might make it more timeless and age the best tho (?). Definitely easiest to keep clean.
- Midnight purple has really caught my eye, but never seen in person. I kinda love it! But am worried it could be too āflashy.ā
-Black is also an option but if Iām going to go with a ādifficult to keep cleanā car I might as well do the midnight purple.
Any silver or midnight purple owners out there have thoughts? Could use the help. Making the purchase this weekend!
From looking at your beautiful '73 240, I can't help but suspect what your decision is for your new Z, but I'm not giving any hints. Thanks for the replies! Iāve made the big decision! Iāll post this weekend when Iāve made the pickupā¦till then Iāll keep you in suspense![]()
You must be looking at a poorly shot photo of Brilliant Silver because I can assure you that it's anything but "dull" in person. Very rich and wet looking in person, and pops hard against black accents. As far as which color to go with; that's entirely your call. IMO the Midnight Purple is a lot like Passion Red in that they're both super neat to see, but I personally would never want to actually own either of them. Much too trendy/flashy for my taste, whereas silver is classic, never gets old, isn't over-the-top flashy/trendy, and really shows off the new Z's beautiful body lines, curves, and creases (and as you said, much easier to keep looking clean as well).Hey all!
