So due to the saddle bag design of the gas tank, hard right-handers will move all the fuel from the right saddlebag to the left saddle bag. I have experienced fuel starve at half a tank and this is no good. Has anyone attempted to fix this issue? How hard is it to do? I'd imagine the fuel tank being fairly inaccessible, and how do you fix it in the first place? I'd image an additional pump? Has someone made a kit for this?

There are a variety of fixes at different price points. You'll need to pick the one that suits your needs

At the bottom is the Z1 Anti-Starve kit, which is basically just a Hydramat and an auxiliary pump, plus some wiring. You can source the parts individually as well, and probably beat their price. Additionally, you can wire a switch to be able to turn it on and off, which is what I did. This is a simple and effective solution for a part-time track car at stockish power. This is probably a few hundred bucks.

The next option is going to be Radium's kit. New tank, bigger pump plus the wiring and stuff to make it work. Gonna be $1000 or more in parts.

Top end is something custom, maybe multiple tanks and pumps. Contact CJ Motorsports:

Charles has been in the Z community forever, and mastered the fuel system on the Z34. Lots of high end parts designed in house. He'll build you a system to suit your budge and needs. I was gonna throw $1k at him, but after explaining i was n/a and part time track, just walked me thru the Holly option instead. I spend the money on the active-baffle oil pan instead, and that thing is a piece of ART.

Can you expand on exactly what that be?

This is used to absorb fuel from anywhere it makes contact with it. You install one on each side of the tank and you will never have an issue with fuel again. You can run the car until the last drop in the tank and it will never cut on you once.

More info:

I got all parts from Z1 and the 3/8" NPT fitting and hose from Amazon.

This video of the install on a Q50. Should be the same thing for the Z.

For the 2nd Hydramat with the hose its installed on the driver side to the metal pipe.

Interesting. Since the Z has no rear seats to remove ;) , this is what some AI search was saying.

"The in-tank fuel pump is accessed from the trunk. Quick steps:

  • Remove the trunk cargo liner and any trim panels covering the rear bulkhead/floor.
  • Locate and remove the circular/rectangular access panel over the top of the fuel tank (under the liner).
  • Relieve fuel system pressure and disconnect the battery.
  • Unplug electrical connectors and fuel lines, then remove the pump module from the tank."

Please don't rely on AI for car advice.

Just google how to do whatever on a 370z, it's been around forever so there are thousands of videos and we share basically everything but the motor and dash with it:

Is that an extra pump you added in the photo (like the Z1 system)?

Certainly an easy way to do it.
Pain in the butt, have to refuel often, after each track session, maybe two. And if you track often, very inconvenient, plus you're carrying all that fuel weight in the car!

It also just feels bad that your new $60,000(+/-) sports car cannot turn right too long/hard with less than half a tank...
