I put on a good 80+ miles today already, the first real drive since clearancing my stock W-brace, and I'm already a lot happier with how the exhaust sounds with the Spool 3" resonated LDPs! I think a lot of what I was hearing was the rattling & vibration of the AWE exhaust pipe on the steel brace. Much more than I realized!

As it sits today, I'm actually super happy with the exhaust setup and probably wouldn't have ordered the B6As! Since I already have them, and got the ceramic coating done, I'll proceed with the swap so I can directly compare the two. As of right now, bracketgate aside (which isn't a big deal to me), I have zero complaints with the Spools.

Great to hear! Both sets look nice and I’m interested in seeing your comparison. Any chance you could get a video of the sound with the Spools?

Has anyone in this thread installed LDPs on their own? I know some of the bolts are hard to get to but this is something I’d like to attempt on my own.

I sure can try! I should be able to handle a cold start and an interior driving video.

Hey all, I went a different direction and picked up a set of AMS Red Alpha downpipes last night. More expensive than other options but I’m here for the quality. They’re not resonated but reviews seem to make them sound like they’re not obnoxious. CZP had them 15% with free shipping!

i‘m self installing mine - currently waiting on jet-hot. I did a test run on the top side. access looks good to me. it’s going to boil down to removing the distorted locking nuts. If they get too hot, it will be a problem. AMS instructions give tips for removing.

I have upgraded my tools - extensions, u-joints, breaker bar, longer ratchet… I have a 24” extension that is actually 22.5” and is a little too long w/ deep well socket and u-joint. So i ordered an 18” and 20”.

now i‘m working on the hardware. I don’t like the clear zinc hardware spool included. So i may order yellow zinc 10.9 grade hardware. it looks like spool shipped M10x1.5x35mm bolts. trying to confirm the thread pitch for the studs. AI calls for M10x1.25. i may also order the oem nuts & studs from z1 for backup.

with that said - can anyone confirm the studs thread size?

Don’t know if this helps, but…

Z1 has the Nissan Z catalytic converter nut, Nissan 20602-41G0A.
Other sites list this nut as M10x1.25

Correct, no CEL from lowers, the secondary cats are unmonitored.

CZP dyno'd their LDPs with a stock catback (link below), but that's definitely going to minimize the gains as you're still feeding into two tiny 1.75" straws.
