Any recommendations for for autoX tires?
I dont think I need to spend 2k on AD09s yet.
I would prefer something much cheaper that is 200 TW.

What are you guys running?
Any answer is fine, IE: If you all are running AD09, i may run them too.
Its my 2nd year and ill need tires mid summer.
Thanks!

I've been on Grassroots Motorsports for many years, here is their latest guide on tire ratings. The Super 200s are what you're looking for. I've used RE71RS before, going to the RZ soon. But most of those are good performers. GRM tests them.

v730 are the best bang for buck. 2 sec slower on a full track lap than the kings of super 200- ao51, re71, etc
but for autocross and longevity they would be fine. I use them on a set of older wheels when testing or just HPDE days

I didn't autoX my first Z33 a bunch. The surface here was HORRIBLE at the time and DEE-STROYED tires. Still have (don't know why) two original fronts (Bridgestone RE045's, maybe) that I ran a couple of times before removing them. They look like rats have been eating the tread blocks.
Decreasing lap/run times is great, but those tenths can cost serious money. Awesome info from @trackratZ/Grassroots!

If you are more interested in your own times and improvement levels I would buy the tires that for your budget. Your times will tell you if u r improving. Takes a lot more than tires!!!

Thanks, had my 1st event last weekend, did bad as usual, but made better times each run.
Most likely going to find cheaper tires.
Questioning how much autoX i will do next year and beyond due to the amount of SITTING AROUND.
8 hours for 5 minutes on track, meanwhile dudes are running WEC (pro racers) at road America driving the real track the entire 8 hours. Very jealous that they were actaully on track all day.

Gotta agree with the sitting around part. 5+ hour AutoX day for maybe 15 good minutes on track.

Once you start actual tracking - track days, time trials - it's much much more worth it than any autox! Granted autox is great for honing your skills on finding your car's limits safely (cone damage at most) which I've done years ago regionally (SCCA Solo II). Track days are full days usually 4 x 20 min sessions or more for the $$, good laps and miles. Plus NO course work LOL. Limits are hit over and over, redlines, handling, braking etc. You do pay more for mistakes though and trailering is best in case car has non-drivable issues. and consumables will cost more (tires, brake pads, fluids, etc).

So like Nike says 'Just Do it', sign up with a local org, most have from Beginner no-passing to Advanced open passing groups. We have SpeedVentures, Speeddistrict here plus others.
