The new Z is never going to come close to the production/sales numbers of its competitors. It was the same way with the 370Z in its last years. And that was before pandemic/shut down the world/supply chain issue times.

That mindset is paradoxically the reason for those abysmal sales numbers, as it’s not for lack of demand.

The Zs priced at MSRP barely touch the dealership lots, so I think poor sales are entirely Nissan’s (and their dealers) fault for choosing not to placing more priority on production; they’re their own worst enemy at this point.

sadly there are all these aftermarket companies tooling up and or manufacturing parts for a car that may not have enough made to sell the volume needed to sustain a business.

was there ever a number that nissan confirmed they would build? i cant recall that or the final year model...anyone know?

I've yet to see a single new Z in Naples or the surrounding area, and that is insane given how early new sports cars, in particular, begin to hit the streets here. I've started shopping Zupras more seriously, and there are plenty on the market, but the inflated prices on those is keeping me at bay ?‍ ?

Oh, Nissan will absolutely take all of the wrong lessons from this situation. Let's hypothesize:

"Well, I guess there just wasn't much demand for Zs in the current automotive environment."

"Buyers just weren't able to accept that the Z has moved upmarket, we guess this whole experiment is over."

"This would have been a smash hit if not for supply chain issues."

No doubt, there's so much more to the bungling of this rollout than just "oh we couldn't get the parts."

If they went electric with the Z in the next gen and kept the same general design language (and the same number of doors), that would be amazing.

I've seen a single proto spec in Houston so far, this is not normal nor a good sign.

I've seen 1 GR Corolla.

Same (well, outside of the lone Z sighting), and it's indicative of just how scarce the Zeds are, overall, when you've got warm-weather markets with big sports car cultures totally devoid of them.
