Ordered the Top Secret hood popper delete kit from Nengun for the GTR, yes it works for the Z. The carbon fiber covers that it comes with will require fitting but besides that the system is the same. The kit comes from Japan and took about 5 weeks to arrive although it shipped overnight once it was in stock and literally only took one day to arrive once shipped. Cost was about $160 with great communication from Nengun.
All instructions were in Japanese
First step, disconnect the negative battery cable and don't unplug the poppers for 15 minutes to avoid throwing a major PIA code. I disconnected at the beginning of taking everything apart and 15 minutes had well passed before I got to the point of unplugging the poppers.
I have the Kanjo hood struts, I unhooked them from the top and used the OEM rod to hold the hood open. The trim pieces that cover the battery area and the brake fluid area unclip with 3 push button clips and then can be rotated so that you don't have to take off the bottom part of the Kanjo struts.
I then removed both windshield wipers and completely removed the cowl trim piece that goes against the windshield, that gave very easy access to the poppers and only took a couple minutes to remove via 4 push button clips. There are also two tabs on each side on the ends that you push out, very easy.
There are 2 bolts and one nut holding each popper on. The drivers side was simple. The passenger side nut is in a very tight spot. The key is to lift up the fuse box in its bracket and move it out of the way to give room to get to the nut. I used a 12mm open ended wrench to budge the nut loose then used needle nose pliers to loosen it, then used a magnet to pull the nut off the last bit. The drivers side two bolts are easy peasy.
When putting the eliminators on make sure you push them until you hear a loud firm click, it is a very deep connector. I was impressed by the quality of the eliminators they are well made and very nicely insulated from weather and dirt.
Pics below, hope this helps if anyone wants to do this. It took me a total of 1 hour 20 minutes from stepping into the garage to coming back in the house. I am a "pretty good" mechanic but no pro by any means. If I can do it, anyone can.
Drivers side with fuse box pulled aside.
Drivers side finished...
Passenger side finished
Tools used. Needle nose and 12mm open ended wrench did not make it into this photo. I don't open my hood without a grabber and magnet lol. Electrical tape is also mandatory.
All back together
This shows the carbon fiber cover designed for the GTR, will need to fit them as they are too large.
