I see the same few people cross posting here and mkv supra forum ?. Yes, weight does play a factor for me personally, but they are what I would consider within the "ballpark" of each other so it will be a difficult choice for sure.

it doesn’t, get off your high horse. Give me an article or empirical data showing that. Every test, laps, comparison, the Supra beats the 370z

370z ran the ring in 8:11. The 2020 supra (335hp) ran the ring in 7:52.

car and driver lightning lap.
Supra 2:59
370z Nismo 3:11
I would hope a new performance car with less weight and more power would be faster.

we need to have a best guess weight contest. do it 'price is right' style. contestant closes to the actual weight without going over wins.

so what's the prize gonna be?

my guess dry...
3555 manual
3745 auto

she's gonna be a big girl
Curb. The weights are as follows:

Sport(MT): 1581 (3485 lbs)
Sport(AT): 1610 (3549 lbs)
Performance(MT)/ProtoSpec: 1604 (3536 lbs)
Performance(AT)/ProtoSpec: 1634 (3602 lbs)
i was close lol...

mt (me) 3555 vs 3536 = 19 diff
at (me) 3745 vs 3602 = 143 diff

how close were you guys?

Compare to the last turbo Z.

Twin Turbo Z32:
1996 - 3502 lbs.
1995 - 3517 lbs.
1994 - 3517 lbs.
1993 - 3474 lbs.
1992 - 3474 lbs.
1991 - 3474 lbs.
1990 - 3414 lbs.
Who cares, compare it to the 370z. It’s a reskinned 370z and not a 300zx.

He wasn't talking about faster, Houston said the 370z handles better than a new Supra, which I also find hard to believe.
The Mk V understeers, bad. It feels like the E89 I had.

To be fair.....the only 370 I've ever driven is my own and it had the entire Nismo parts catalog on it thanks to the previous owner, I've never driven a stock 370. My 370 stayed balanced and flat in the turns..... The two best handling cars I've ever owned were that 370 and a FD

You guys kill me with the weight/power issue.

Almost every one of you will not and cannot ascertain any difference between two similar cars back-to-back on the street.

Word to yo' mutthah... ?

That's quite literally what he was saying (and I quoted in my reply). And I quote, again -

car and driver lightning lap.

I’ve seen a stock supra run 11.9 on the drag strip on stock wheels. Numbers are definitely off
I'd say variances are probably due to track conditions (temp, foot of rollout, press car or pampered car, etc) there.

They're both quick freakin cars if you step back from the hair-splitting difference in times that few drivers of either model will notice or feel.

Given the way things were going, there was a likely scenario that involved neither of these cars existing. I'm just enjoying my popcorn over here and getting my stuff in order so I might be able to get one by middle of next year.

I was hoping slightly above 4500lbs curb weight. Despite it being heavy it wont sway me from buying the new Z. I'm not here to set lap records.. I love the styling and I'm a manual purist so as long as the new Z feels well composed and balanced.. being heavier wont bother me at all.
