Installed the alpha Rex quads, and my CAI. Is the ECU reflash mandatory? I heard dealerships can do it for free, although the intake is my first mod in the z.

Got some good news today though that Nissan is going to be covering a new engine and turbos under warranty 🙏 I am so glad they didn't pull a Toyota...

Anyone tried drilling tiny holes on the cover, if so, does the induction noise remain the same if the covers where off?

Do you happen to know which OBD2 module would be good for our cars to signal an alarm for high temps, or low pressure on the oil? I would really like to purchase one.
OBD readers are a dime a dozen…

I’m using PLM’s KIWI for my taco w/ OBD fusion app w/ CarPlay. I think they have their own app now. it’s good for the Z as well. I used it on my G37 as well.

But if i was buying a new one for the z, i would look at vx diag, - this one is compatible with Nissan’s consult III+ and you can change stuff.

ecutek phone app is also a good choice for changes and setting up a dash board to monitor sensors - lol. You can just buy the ecutek BT module and use it as a generic OBD code reader - if you ever decided to tune you car, you just need to buy license and pay a tuner for their tune.

I just found an interesting bullet point in the GT-R owners manual.....

*When the vehicle is delivered, the engine oil is set to 10mm(0.39in) below the H mark for optimal high-performance driving. The engine oil can be filled up to the H mark if performance driving is not engaged.

Based on that, I'm pretty positive at this point, that they intend the Z to be from 9mm below the High line, up to the High line at most.
Per that GT-R manual, the part I bolded means what, only fill to H mark when not under performance situations? Strange recommendation.

It's written High to High, not high to low 9MM
That's the intent, just monitor to ensure stays High, not let it dip below 9mm under High, under extreme situations.

Can’t remember who, and I don’t believe there were pics, but someone here said they used a drill bit the same size as the little dimples opposite the NISMO logo and drilled all of those spots out.

Great news they will warranty. So what was the approval based on, using too thin of oil for track use, any other recommendations? One cylinder was compromised?

Yes, please let us know what their diagnosis was if they gave you one. What exactly failed in the motor? @sdktheway

I'm glad they are taking care of a new engine under warranty.

Less drag on the crank means more horsepower and less oil foaming.

I remember reading that too! I don't think he shared pics, but it's the same general idea as running the AMS lids with the windows removed.

Trunk sound deadening project; this is about 11sq/ft of material. A little better Bose sub performance (it needs it) and slightly less road/tire noise are never a bad thing.
