I'm definitely going to start on the way more conservative side. My Z still only has 2.1K miles on it so I don't expect really pushing it hard, especially out of the gate.

Did we ever figure out why Mellowyellow's TruControl seemed to have issues on the first run?
Update. It has been a couple of hundred miles and it has worked flawlessly in all maps.

No I meant in your Z
oh lmao sorry started reminiscing.

I have not been challenged since I installed the Stillen and I don’t go looking. Before install I did beat a 5.7 challenger R/T and a Silverado with a 454. In both roll racing and short drags from a stop.

I would like for Stillen to answer if this product works with the Nismo Automatic version.

Question about the “de-energizing procedure” - is it literally just “open the hood, lock the car, move the keys away, and wait 15 minutes”? That’s way I read the instructions but I wasn’t sure if I was missing something. Wouldn’t unplugging the battery achieve the same thing?

Hey sometimes the ECU needs some adjustment to having the new tuner plugged in. It's very normal for the car to feel weird for the first few miles. Some have this issue and others do not but as long as you followed the instructions and are not encountering any issues you should be good to go!

The reason why you suggest this procedure is because this is a more reliable way. When disconnecting the battery completely most of your preset stuff is erased including learned fuel trims, throttle adaptations ect.

On some cars when the ECU recognizes a new sensor it's smoother to have the de energizing procedure done vs cutting all power as this may also cause voltage spikes creating internal issues.

Hey Will do you have any idea how much boost each map produces outside of the eco maps?
Hey,
Unfortunately, I have no idea. That would be a question for my tuning guy. I can reach out and see if I can get you some ball park numbers.

You don’t need to unhook the battery, I think you’d lose settings if you did. What you did was what I did. It seems to be a one off issue for you.

Ok, cool. I haven’t installed mine yet but I am tonight. I wanted to be sure since the instructions mention “disabling the alarm” and potentially cars not locking fully if the hood is still open. I wasn’t sure if that was all generic advice not applicable to the Z or if it was.

Just installed my TruControl this morning. Very easy install and had zero issues with the install or any weirdness after. I kept the defaults (Eco - 3, Sport - 5, Race - 6) and only tried Sport mode but definitely a noticeable difference, even in 5. I'll play around with the other settings but very happy with this.

In terms of wiring, I went with the spot on the front passenger side that others used. I was really happy that I was able to run the wiring and still put the engine cover back on.

I'm curious - is anyone using the warm up timer? I'd prefer to just leave it 0'd out but not sure what others are doing.

I left it at 5 mins just to remind me to be nice to my car and let the oil get warmed up.
