I am narrowing down three potential third party exhausts for my Nissan Z Performance (Auto). I am going for OEM+ not anything obnoxiously loud.

1. Nismo Street Exhaust
2. Z1 Touring Exhaust
3. AWE Touring Exhaust

From a looks perspective the Nismo Street exhaust fits the part in my opinion. However, there is supposedly a port hold on the part per the company I am working with. I was curious other people's opinions on these exhausts. Lots of posts out there but wanted to consolidate a discussion on this to make it easier.

I have spent a few weeks looking over options. The exhausts really do not have that much of a performance benefit unless you are getting a tuned, so to me it comes down to sound. The two that I have seen that I like best are the Stock Auto Exhaust (which you have), and the AWE touring. Also on my list is the Stillen street exhaust, that one sounds great, and looks really good too. If I was going aftermarket, those are the two I think sound best, which of course is subjective.

+1 for Stillen. I bought the Stillen Comp exhaust and absolutely love it. Quality was top notch and the sound is exactly what I was looking for.

Also agreed that you won’t see performance gains without replacing the J-pipes with them or removing cats.

It seems the videos of the Stillen may have other mods to it so I am not sure I can trust the sound. Is your setup stock other than the Stillen exhaust?

There is a big difference between the stillen option and AWE, namely the diameter of the pipes. If at any point in the future you would like to add/chase more power, you would want the AWE 3" exhaust.

It won't matter, the AWE is 3 inch, but the VR really cannot make enough power where they would be limited by the Stillen Exhaust. People make too big a deal with exhaust diameter, the only place it matters most if directly behind the turbo. The stock exhaust on the Z with a tune can still lay down 430-450 HP.

I am not really looking at performance. More make the sound slightly better and look great behind the car. I like the look of the Nismo one.

Mine is a stock Performance 9AT with no other mods. Happy to take a video if you like.

I have the same exact car. Videos and photo would be helpful. The issue is I always hear good and bad thing about all these third party exhausts (with the exception of the Nismo one). Any photos/videos you can provide would be helpful though!

Any drone? Does it sound fine inside? Do they stick out too much? I read somewhere that some person was having issues with the speakers where sound is pumped in.

I'm talking about 650HP+ starting point... and when you get to that realm the exhaust diameter does matter. The VR platform can handle tons of power. Look at the VR38

Even up to 700-800hp dual 2.5 exhaust more than enough. I’ve built many high HP and exhaust was never a limiting factor. My 2011 Shelby gt500 was making almost 800rwhp on the stock exhaust, which is dual 2.5 inch.

Not to be disrespectful but sounds like you didn't optimize the builds. Especially for a turbo car, a larger exhaust ID than the turbine out ID is needed. Some interesting reads and video for reference...

I am not going to purse swing, but it's clear you have learned all your information about cars by internet forums, and not in the real world, and we are only talking a few HP here or there if you get a larger diameter exhaust, that does not mean it's better.

Less restriction in the exhaust means the turbos respond faster... If you can get an extra 10-25hp from a 3" exhaust & get more responsive turbos it makes sense to go to 3". I said in my original post if he is chasing power at some point it would make sense to do 3" once and forget about it rather than need to jump from 2.5" to 3". Bringing up "purse swinging" is silly and isn't productive, nor do you know anything about me
