^ Clever way of breaking the embargo without actually breaking the embargo. Leave something for the video! And maybe expect a "friendly" call from Dan lol....

Given they have been doing ride alongs with people in the cars, then people uploading the drives on Youtube there is way more info out there already, than I am providing. I want to make it clear, Im not telling anyone how the car drives, other than be excited, as this thread suggested.

Its the Z34 platform incrementally updated. The biggest change is all the little changes all over, including kinematics. More caster up front, different shocks, bushings, bars etc. Other improvements in braking master cylinder and relocation of slave cylinder for easier access to name a few. We will have all those details in video. If you modded the hell out of a 370 you may feel like many things on new car are not a huge deal but again all of the major and minor things really added up here.

We could not do an alignment obviously to see how much adjustability was there. But some older 370Z parts will likely fit while others won't.

My recommendation to be 100% honest is if you are on the fence with the manual car given this climate is to get an allocation now or place an order before the media sh*tstorm really starts. This forum is for the enthusiasts, and if you are here you likely are passionate about the car. Im almost positive its gonna be hard to get once all the non Z buyers bandwagon to get one.

Only option I've heard of in the USA, is to get on some individual dealer lists. And then the customer is waiting for a Z to show up at the given dealer (maybe not exactly the specs wanted), and maybe (probably) getting hit up for some extra charges (ADM or add-ons).

I suspect the new Z will be a nice car in theory, but a car a lot of people will not actually be driving anytime soon. Man I'm so glad I got into the car hobby and enjoyed vehicles (and life in general) prior to the COVID era mucking things up.

Great channel and content as always, Matt! I'm really curious when you do report, since you have the Bullitt, a true comparison between it, a muscle car, and the new Z. This, since I'm on a same-year GT PP2 which has enough power and being corner-balanced, a great handling car I currently track.
Thanks! I'll be sure to compare it to the Mustang, along with its other main competitors in my review. Savagegeese will cover all the technical stuff way better than I can, but if there's anything else that's been overlooked so far that you'd like me to check out during my time with the car, let me know.

When are you driving it?

True enough, although a 20 minute ride-along by a YouTube "influencer" is hardly equivalent to an all-day track driving session by two experienced, critical reviewers such as yourselves with respect to the evidentiary value of the opinions expressed or hints given. And your references to a "media sh*tstorm" and a coming "non Z buyers bandwagon" aren't that hard to reverse-engineer. Anyways, I was just having a bit of fun earlier, very happy to hear what you had to say.

I do hope you will address one question in your review piece that I think some of us consider important: Is this car now in such a high performance category that you cannot really enjoy it in the typical day-to-day urban driving most of us do, most of the time? On forums like miata.net and ft86club.com, one can find numerous cases of folks who have dumped their Corvettes and Mustangs for a Miata or a twin because in such a driving scenario their cars were being driven so below their limits they weren't any fun to pilot after the initial thrill of ownership wore off.

Looking forward to your review, your vivisection of the final-edition 370Z was one reason I never picked one up despite it being dirt cheap up here in its final few years.

Excellent question. This is my one and only concern. It's extremely easy to lose your licence here downunder, I'm not going down that road for a 3rd time..

I doubt the new Z will be on another level performance-wise, but do think it'll be more streetable with refinements. From what we've seen on the suspension bits and VR30, it'll mostly be a faster 370Z, in a straight line. How much faster does 400 vs 375hp of the prior Nismo gives us, it's a guess. Handling wise, I sure hope Nissan built enough adjustability to the susp, e.g. camber up to -3 deg, etc. as this will 'wake' up the Z on track. If it feels light and quick, not just fast, it'll be a winner.

Heck, I may revisit and trade-in my Mustang GT PP2, which has been corner-balanced, camber plated, etc. for a Z 'lightness' if the whole package is enticing enough for tracking.

At Las Vegas Motor Speedway outside track this weekend, lots of Supras, Vettes, M cars, BRZ/GT86, Miatas, S2Ks, Shelbys to battle, need the Z to be competitive!

As someone who was looking at a Miata (MX5) but was drawn to the Nissans updated tech, safety and looks in general….I second/third (after Jezza) this.
MX5 is still available in a manual, the next car I buy will be my daily….so this is actually a really good question

This is SG, track had mostly dried by end of day. Surface of that facility was like sand paper. We drove flat out back to back with 370Z. Rest assured, as we honor the embargo you will get all of your questions answered honestly. And if you have things we can answer I will along with posting as much here as I can.

Thank you for your input. Love your vids, so well done, funny, and informative. But damn you guys drove this in Feb? Must have been a non-final preproduction model. My main questions would be;

Is this more of a GT car that can be engaging and enjoyable enough to track it on occasion? Or more of a Track car that isn't GT level but it's not going to shake out the kidney stones? Since it doesn't have adaptive dampeners.

How well does this hog hide it's weight assuming it's going to weight in what we suspect? Some automakers do a great job with this, like BMW. Did they find a way to keep weight in check?

How is visibility out the front and the sides? Hopefully not as horrible as a Supra or Camaro. And being 6'2" who likes to sit Abe Lincoln style more straight up, will I fit with a helmet?

Most importantly.. how were your guys T-Levels after driving this on the track and on the streets?

^ Some good questions there, the weight issue is key. On the visibility question, it looks like it'll be identical to the 370Z as there are no significant changes in the greenhouse or cockpit dimensions - so bad but not Supra/Camaro bad.

Looking forward to it, those little chassis and suspension changes they made are what I'm most interested in.
