Doesn’t look that bad. clean her up and make sure those are not scuff marks - if scuffs, they will clean-up with a light polish \ cutter.

if the paint is gone - i would just do a touch-up similar to repairing curb rash on a wheel and see how you liked it.

Unless you know your body shops - more that likely a repaint will get worse before it gets better - you will get overspray on the hood and most of the car which will require the body shop to have to pull the buffers out to clean-up the rest of the car… and here comes the swirls…

or you could pull the bumper for repair and upgrade the heat exchanger while you at it…

This is the worst comment on here. I'm a body and paint tech. Bumpers always get R&I. Only the shitty shops would keep it on.

To the OP, find reviews of shops by you. This is not an expensive fix I promise you. Turn around time 4 days max. Stress to them that the bumper and grills must be removed. A little blue mud, blend paint, clear and out the door. They won't blow paint from end to end so no worries on a paint mismatch!

My biggest apprehension about getting a newer/new Z.

I bought my wife a brand new Corolla Hatchback in Blue Flame. It's her all-time favorite car. It's been significantly damaged 4 times now. I washed it this weekend for her, which is when you get up close and personal to the damage you may have not noticed previously. There's two new significant sheet metal dings and missing paint on of them. Still has the paint transfer from another vehicle.
I immediately felt dread about how I'd feel if it was something special like a Z.

3 weeks ago I was sitting in my Acura at Costco waiting for the family and some dude backed into the Acura putting his hitch through the front license plate and bracket. This had also happened a year prior when it was my son's car, and this guy destroyed the new license plate and bracket I had just bought a few months prior. And when I confronted him about it he seemed offended that I had a problem with him damaging my car. I pointed out to him that his vehicle has a backup camera, it wasn't an accident, it was negligence and he had no intention of taking responsibility for it.

And my Q60 was hit twice in the same spot in the 4 years I had it.
Having to deal with body shops is terrible, and being without a vehicle is just the icing on the cake.

Depending on the damage, I usually don't have it fixed right away.
I wait until more damage occurs and becomes too much to look at (especially in cases where the costs are going to be out of pocket) and just send the car in once, that way I can consolidate repairs to (hopefully) one project.

You might find that the original damage gets joined by some new damage on the same area of the car, and probably won't cost more, or much more than if you had to bring it in more than once.

yea. Been doing the same thing when parking in a public lot. So far I have been lucky. Middle of third riding season up here in northern MI. What irritates me is even when I park away from others, some a**hole will park next to me. Like they just do it on purpose.

Man, what a first class jacka$$. Unfortunately, that seems to have become the norm these days.

In the Houston metro, you could encounter some jerk like that and he’d be making you feel fortunate he didn’t shoot you. Sadly, the worst case scenarios have occurred around here for similar incidents, with innocent people murdered.

Yep, I get that, too. It’s usually some beat up Civic or Hyundai with a huge tailpipe and garish, cheap wheels who thinks they have a “cool” car.

Yep, I saw that crazy news. It’s stuff like that that makes me do what I can to avoid anything close to a situation like that. I’m not making any judgements, other than I certainly wouldn’t have been advancing upon someone with a gun pointed at me. Then again, it’s so crazy these days, he could have turned around and started walking away and then been shot in the back.
