Sad to say it seems to be more true than not, these days. An overall lack of personal responsibility, decency, and civility.

Very sorry to see this happen to your Z. I’ve got a big ding in the side of my Lexus, thanks to some yahoo slamming his door into it. I always try to park my Z as far away as I can from anyone else. A friend one asked me why I parked so far away from where we were headed and I responded with “because I can get some added exercise and there’s way to many inconsiderate jackwads around.”

Not even a 1000 miles on it and someone has already backed in to it.

Just a reminder that people suck and don’t care about others things. I watched them do while at DQ and they just drove off as I was running out to stop them.

just keep a look out
Very sorry to see that!
I always try to park my cars as far away from potential trouble spots when possible. I have even decided not to park if i considered there any risk.

One day i was parked in a Bunnings car park in my Disco 4wd.....it is raised and has sill bars which protrude approx 5 inches out from the lower sills.
I was sitting in the Disco watching a lady comming towards the car parked beside me, she got to the side door on the car, opened it obviously not giving any consideration to my vehicle parked beside.
She opened the car door with total disregard to my 4WD , She regretted it though !! it hit the sill protector full force.....didnt really put any noticeable marks on the sill protector, BUT her door now had a beautiful concave dint in the mid-section!!
I just glared at her and thought "Fu*k You"

Thank you all for responding. Even my wife who was with me was really frustrated.

I'm not even really sure how to go about repairing it. I don't want to do an insurnace thing because than it'll have a mark on its carfax, and I worry about this particular paint color not coming out right if I were to have it repaired at a body shop.

Doesn’t look that bad. clean her up and make sure those are not scuff marks - if scuffs, they will clean-up with a light polish \ cutter.

if the paint is gone - i would just do a touch-up similar to repairing curb rash on a wheel and see how you liked it.

Unless you know your body shops - more that likely a repaint will get worse before it gets better - you will get overspray on the hood and most of the car which will require the body shop to have to pull the buffers out to clean-up the rest of the car… and here comes the swirls…

or you could pull the bumper for repair and upgrade the heat exchanger while you at it…

I don't even see any damage
There's two scuff marks on both ends of the photo. And sadly, after I got home I noticed that the right side mark has deformed just a little bit. I know it doesn't look bad, and all things considered it the darker paint of the midnight purple does hide it, but man, does it feel bad to have less than 1000 miles and have something like this happen.

A qualified bodyshop won't have any issue repairing/matching that. That's big enough where a touch-up is going to look pretty bad. A repainted bumper isn't really a big deal and pretty common these days. Bodyshops typically don't report to Carfax (confirm this with them!), but insurance does. Really depends what the repair quote is and how that compares to your deductible.

There should not be any "overspray" because any competent body shop will remove the bumper cover before they refinish it.

For getting backed into, you made out pretty good. Sorry that happened to you, with that kind of impact they may have not even known they did it.

Sorry this happened to you, It was one of the hesitations I had when I picked mine up. Chameleon paints like MNP are hard to match even for the best of shops. Check out you tuber Tommy in Connecticut trying to match his R34 MNP.

Yes. A good body shop should be able to make it look good again but it won't be one of the easier colors, I suspect. It's just a pain in the a$$, especially when it's not even your fault and the clown responsible for it is irresponsible. :curse:

My biggest apprehension about getting a newer/new Z.

I bought my wife a brand new Corolla Hatchback in Blue Flame. It's her all-time favorite car. It's been significantly damaged 4 times now. I washed it this weekend for her, which is when you get up close and personal to the damage you may have not noticed previously. There's two new significant sheet metal dings and missing paint on of them. Still has the paint transfer from another vehicle.
I immediately felt dread about how I'd feel if it was something special like a Z.

3 weeks ago I was sitting in my Acura at Costco waiting for the family and some dude backed into the Acura putting his hitch through the front license plate and bracket. This had also happened a year prior when it was my son's car, and this guy destroyed the new license plate and bracket I had just bought a few months prior. And when I confronted him about it he seemed offended that I had a problem with him damaging my car. I pointed out to him that his vehicle has a backup camera, it wasn't an accident, it was negligence and he had no intention of taking responsibility for it.

And my Q60 was hit twice in the same spot in the 4 years I had it.
Having to deal with body shops is terrible, and being without a vehicle is just the icing on the cake.
