Hello,
I'm about to do the first oil change on my Z and was wondering if I should change it myself or taking it in. I change oil on all my cars and I have the low profile ramps. Is here is any specific difficulty with the Z oil change that I need to be aware of?
Thanks for your input.

It’s one of the easiest and most accessible oil changes you can do. No problem.

If you get one of the aftermarket undercovers it’s even easier.

Just changed mine yesterday (2025). Tried it first by jacking up the car, but it was too much of a pain trying to get the undercover off, so I went to a local auto hobby shop and used their lift. Much easier. The car is so low, that the ramps didn't work for me, and jacking the car up might have been doable, if not for the undercover.

I picked up a set of these 56" Race Ramps: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003WSZH9G

Pricey, but to me they are worth every penny. They can clear a regular height Z and the slope is easier to driveup. Don't even use the old ramps I had anymore.

It is best to take the car to your dealer or an authorized shop to maintain warranty. If you don't care, then yes, it is easy to do yourself.

Correctomundo. Lots of legends about these things on all forums.

Be very careful about stripping out the insert in the plastic oil pan. Better yet get rid of the plastic oil pan as it leaves over .5 quart of dirty oil that can't be drained. CZP Billet Alum pan is what I went with and it is top notch.

Yea l agree with Andz, get rid of that crappy plastic pan, l fitted the CZP pan and can now do a proper oil drain. Baffles me why Nissan would fit this junk.

I read somewhere you could get the rest of the oil to drain if you elevate one side a bit more. Anyone know which side? I don't see the point in paying a crapload of money for a new oil pan.

Yeah just it's your basic oil change process, nothing complicated like the Supra.

You could also install one of these to make future changes even easier and potentially avoid stripping out that plastic oil pan: https://www.fumotousa.com/cars-pickups-nissan-2024-z-3-0l-v6

I got the F-133.
This is cool, I haven’t seen these before. I haven’t been under the car yet to see the angle of the drain. Do you regret not getting one of the options with the nipple for even easier draining? Any concerns with clearance with those options?

I use ramps so I didn't need the nipple, but there's enough clearance for the short nipple. I'll be doing a change next week so I'll check if the long would fit.
