$100 each ?
Imma try to get mine done under warranty
Yep. Was free. And really only four trips to the Nissan dealer to get it resolved.

I used to joke with my wife about home improvement projects. She ask me to estimate the project, and I'd say, This project is 3 HDT, or that project is 5 HDT.

HDT is Home Depot Trip.

Fixing my hatch was 4 NDT and $0.

Well, even with the new springs, I'm starting to have this problem again. It's maybe 1 time in 15, which is a lot less, but still annoying.

this

and there's other threads on it.

you can either
a) ask Nissan to fix it
b) buy heavy duty hatch poppers from Z1 - link
c) insert some washers or coins for an easy 10 minute fix - how to
(I've done this on my 370Z, but my Z is ok so far)
Old post, but here's an update in case others are still having problems. O wise and knowledgeable @Mud gave sage advice.

I tried step a) which seemed to fix it...for awhile. Nissan replaced the OEM springs with new OEM springs, and I had a good experience for several months, but now it's back to not working.

In fact, the hatch failed to open when I went to the car to implement step b). Yes, I ordered the aftermarket poppers from Z1. Now the hatch pops like "How high?" when I ask it to jump.

So, after using the Z1 hatch poppers for a little over a week, I decided to switch back to the OEM poppers.

With the Z1 poppers, I was hearing new creaks and rattles while driving. At first I thought my wife had left some junk in the passenger side door, but then I washed my car last weekend and I noticed that the hatch didn't seem fully sealed. It creaked when I pushed on it. I think the Z1 poppers may be too powerful, perhaps flexing the hatch.

I'm going to try the OEM poppers for a week or so to see the the creaks and rattles vanish.

i noticed a delay in the power latch release (by sound). if i listen and wait for the latch “release” sound, the hatch opens. if pull up on the hatch before the latch release sound the hatch will not open.

I think this occurs more if the car is locked. I noticed that if the car is locked, the front doors will unlock first (which adds a delay) and then the hatch will pop. It's less noticeable if the car is already unlocked.

I'm so glad I searched this, thank you!

2 play money plastic coins in each popper (even cheaper than the real thing) and BOOM my hatch pops straight up.

My 26 MT Sport hatch release acts like this from time to time right off the dealer lot (even when on the dealer lot lol) otherwise works just a little fussy, haven't really considered it to be a problem.

d) remove trunk/hatch weight and see if this helps as in the 370z - how to
Updated list with option d

I stumbled across another option that I saw years ago and forgot about when I made this list.
It may help people with weak hatch release.

There is a weight in the rear hatch, under the plastic panels. Not sure for the reason. Maybe to give a more solid feel or help with closing?
Removing this will make the hatch lighter and help with opening.

Removing this will also assist if you've added the cargo cover or added a heavier spoiler.
