I like manual in the canyons (art) and paddle shift on the track (science). I have both.

I drove the Golf R too while doing QC for Volkswagen. I would drive it as aggressive as I drive my motorcycle. It is truly remarkable. The Nismo AT doesn't come close to the R.
The directness in shifting of most modern DCTs can’t be compared to any torque converter automatic. Driving the GT-R and Porsche’s was very evident. Was it too difficult to put that DCT into our Z Nismo? I would consider it for outright performance, knowing won’t be as engaging as the manual.

The upgrade would be worth it if you came from Sports, other than that then no.

My dream car for the future even if that future ends in 2025.

Interesting... how would you compare the 370Nismo with your current Z?
I don't have enough time behind the wheel of the Z but power wise there is no comparison. I do miss the suspension of my Nismo that I had it dial up. I had it for 5 yrs .... the Z only for 1 yr and is not my DD.

Not sure about the Perf, but with the NISMO, Welcome to the fantastic world of endless brake dust. I removed my wheels, meticulously cleaned and ceramic coated, drove to work the next day and the barrels of the wheels were already brown. 16 miles, normal driving, no traffic, minimal lights. Just a 30 min stroll. It's bad. My one real complaint. And there are almost no aftermarket pads out there.

Another thing is aftermarket compatibility. If the fitment just says " '23+ Nissan Z" you need to dig deep and read every word in descriptions, and if unsure, ask the company for fitment. Granted, this isn't necessary for every little thing, but it surprised me...like the undertray.

Two recent examples...
Mishimoto oil can. I had to make a spacer, modify and bend the bracket, but made it work. The NISMO has a coolant line on the driver's side the other models don't have.
Z1 lower front chassis brace. I wasn't really gunning for this, just browsing, and noticed it bolts on, but the NISMO has a cover underneath that must be removed to make it work.

In the scheme of things, not an issue, but can be a pain. Hopefully the longer the Z is out the more specific companies will be with compatibility.

I do have coilovers on the list. Maybe. Maybe not. One I'm looking at is the HKS Hipermax S. It's supposed to be the same as the stock rate (12F/11R, divorced), but I'm not sure if the stock rates have been formally confirmed. I noticed the Hipermax S for the 370Z is quite a bit cheaper. I assume because the 370's a bit lighter, the spec on those is 10F/9R, divorced. Assuming fit is identical and stock is 12F/11R, I'd suspect the 370Z Hipermax S would provide a little smoother ride in the RZ34.

I've only driven the NISMO, so I have no frame of reference. Because you drove a Perf for a while (MT or AT?, can't remember), I'm interested to hear more long-term pros and cons between the two.

Cheers!
I wouldn't trade the Nismo cover for the Z1 brace, that cover is part of the Nismo aero package that creates front downforce. The Z1 front chassis brace is a thin piece of aluminum bolting to a thick aluminum casting and probably does next to nothing.

I will buy your Nismo front lower chassis aero cover though if you decide to run the Z1 brace šŸ™ƒ

That brace wasn’t on my radar. Not sure why I looked into it so deeply. Probably just another late night aftermarket part rabbit hole I fell into.

I’ve had the Z1 undershroud for a month now. May wait until I change the oil next to install. I’m curious what that cover and other stuff looks like under there. Don’t really know what the Sports and Perfs look like though.whatevers different I assume it’s small, like that cover we’re talking about, the little winglet things on the sway bar, etc. Iā€˜ll try to get some shots underneath if someone wants to compare bits and bobs between the models.

I FORGOT!!

That there is supposed to be a "break-in period" for the car. I got confused about this one. Maybe because, even though this NISMO is technically a new car, it is a 24 model. I'm sure that the time it spent at the dealer, the drive testers were not considerate toward the car. I've pushed it a few times; impossible to not do if driving a NISMO. It's just so inviting 🤣
How bad do you think this could be for the car?

You're fine. I'd change the oil early though. Not because you leaned on it, but because it's perfectly normal to have elevated wear metals in oil in a new engine, and the best thing you can do is flush them out of there quicker.

Nissan recommends a 10K oil change interval, even under their "severe" criteria. Oil change interval can be a sticky subject, but 10K ain't happening with mine.

My plan, at least while it's under warranty, is 5K intervals, switching between dealership and home.
Home on the 5's and dealership on the 10's
My first was at 1,700 (dealership)
2nd around 5,850 (home)
10K @ dealership...yadda, yadda, yadda.

AAaaahhhh, I see... yea... you can still do the free ones at the dealer and the other ones at home. Sounds like a plan.

I would not worry about it. I did absolutely no break in. Things are just dandy with the vehicle. I’m never getting rid of this car so I’ll be the guinea pig on using the car normally from mile 8.

The biggest drawback? the AT in regular mode... it is an embarrassing piece of crap... if the NISMO didn't have the other sport modes, I would not own one. Plain and simple.
What's the problem, you don't like cruising around in 8th gear at any speed above 40mph?!

This youtuber does a good job showing the underbody of both cars. The nismo is much cleaner, and even has little wheel well diffusers like race front splitter/diffusers have.

Normal z:

Nismo:

Also, not shown in these videos the Nismo has an extra heat exchanger for the water to air intercooler system on the passengers side and an auxillary radiator on the driver's side, which both vent into the wheel wells (which os why the nismo has vented front wheel splash guards).

True, lol! Cars since ā€˜97 have been 5MT and two 6MTs. Constantly unconsciously looking down to check the gear, thinking, ā€œjeez!’ just to see 6th during a leisurely stroll between stop lights.
