Anyone have any issues going from a 275 rear to a 295 rear on a stock performance model? Any traction control issues? Speedo off at all? Fitment issues?

Not sure about fitment

Tire size = (speedo reading @ 30mph) / (ride height diff)
285/30 = 31.1 mph / -12.mm
285/35 = 29.7 mph / +3mm
295/30 = 30.9 mph / -10mm
295/35 = 29.5 mph / +6mm

Realistically, 285 is probably the limit on the stock performance rims, I am not sure I would go 295 personally on the stock wheels.

295 is great on the stock rim. I have run the 295 and 20mm spacers but you will bet rub over bumps. I think 295 and 10-15mm spacers would be perfect

I use the Tire Rack website to judge actual tire size. Just punching in 295/30 and looking at the specs for six different tires I found section widths that vary from 11.6" to 12.3" and tread width from 10.6" to 12.5". Another spec I look at to judge the affect on speedometer readings is the revs per mile. For these random six it varies from 792 to 801 RPM.

When I was tracking my vette, I had three sets on wheels/tires on my rack. I used Michelin on the track and switched to some cheaper Pirellis in town. Side by side these looked like two different tire sizes although they were stamped the same. That's how I learned to check the above data.

I use 285/40/18 tires in the rear, 10.5" wide wheels, 12mm offset, no issues. My ride height is adjusted to 3/4" lower than stock.

Is the fitment concern the ride height?

Could you run them without the spacers? Tire rub then too?

The ride height difference is how much higher or lower the car will sit; the distance between the center of the axle and the ground. +12mm ride height means the overall tire will be 24mm taller than, in this case, the OEM tire. So you'd get +12mm of height diff between the axle and ground, and +12mm between the axle and top of the tire under the fender.

This affect (going bigger) isn't huge on the rear, but can cause problems on the front as there typically isn't a ton of extra room for the tire when the wheel is turned and the suspension compresses. Front stuff isn't the topic of this thread, so I'll leave that one alone.

OK, thanks for breaking that down. Makes sense. I plan on leaving the front alone, just looking for a bit better traction. And it will look a bit more agressive IMO.

Meaty tires (taller sidewall, anyway) on the back fill out the wheel wells better, but the trade-off is the slight ride height increase. I've always preferred 'regular' size wheels with meaty tires over large wheels and rubber band thin tires, so I have no complaints.

I have gone as wide as 325/30-19 in the rear with no problems on 11" wide +18 offset wheels.

Thanks for all the input fellas. Got them mounted, no spacers and they are great so far. No rub so far either. I can now see the 1-2% camber now that the side walls are accentuated out. Curious on tire wear, but the stock 275s looked pretty even at 5k. Time will tell.
