Did oil change at dealer here and they also over inflate to 40 psi front & back. Maybe they know the general populace don't check their tire pressures/refill so they overfill it to compensate untill the next expected oil change?I run the pressure recommended by the sticker at the driver's B pillar.
I also noticed that anyone who services the car will return the car to me with overinflated tires. No idea why. Been happening for years on multiple cars at multiple mechanics. I just shrug and fix it.
My dealer that sold me the car claimed they put nitrous in the tires... that was a f ing lie. then set it at 40 PSI to make the car b=have better gas mileage for commutngPurchased my 2024 performance in late August. All tire pressures upon deliver we set at 37 psi. I adjusted them to 33 psi. Just had my first oil change today at 2000 miles, tire pressures are back to 37 psi. from the dealer. Tires are reaching 40 psi during my normal commute to work. Too High??? Why are they not following the recommended pressure?
I’m sure they do know. It’s just that on most cars manufacturers recommended pressure is generally for comfort and to give the car a cushy feel. Over inflating sometimes gives you slightly more responsive steering, less side wall deformation and some say better wear and better fuel economy. Why would you assume that Nissan wouldn't know the best tire pressures to run on the OEM tires?
How often are you all adding air to your tires?I will go 35 in front and 32 in back on my perf.
Once it gets down to recommended 32/29 on a cold start I will put air in them again.
Similar to @bpeckham but I am a bit lazier and don't want to do it as often.![]()
That's a good idea about checking with every drive. Thanks.Seems like the performance wheels and 007s hold air pretty well. I top up maybe every other month. I also start every drive on the dashboard's tire pressure display to see if it's time. It cooled off here in the last month, and that also seemed to make a difference.
I know this is a year later, but thank you for going to the effort to post that video. It's just what I needed.32 Front / 29 Rear - in the official Nissan video - looks like a yellow proto z - 19" tires - pause video @ 25 second mark.
Tire size / vehicle weight dictates tire pressure . . .
I usually am adding air when I do oil changes if they are at or a little lower then the recommended I always put a few extra lbs of psi in them. How often are you all adding air to your tires?
My TPMS just came on and said that one tire is at 24. I had a nail in another tire earlier this year and had it repaired and that one is at 27. I don't remember if Discount Tire inflated all of the tires or just the one, but I would hope they did all of them. Seems like a short amount of time to lose a lot of pressure, but I don't have the numbers.![]()
It's so easy with the Z. My wife's car requires scrolling and clicking a bunch of times, and then it vanishes after a few seconds. It amazes me how bad car software can be.That's a good idea about checking with every drive. Thanks.![]()
I picked up a Fanttik S100 APEX Powerful Portable Air Pump & Tire Inflator with Power Bank at Costco this weekend for $40. Now I can top up my tires at home any time I need and save a trip. It will also be good for emergencies.I used to fill mine with Nitrogen but also stopped for the same reason. Topping them up is a pain in the butt.
Speaking of topping up, I bought this portable tire inflator a couple of days ago, works like a charm and now I don't need to drive up to the gas station or tire shop to top up my tires. Also nice to have for emergencies even though it's slow, it can at least get you going if you were in a situation where you tire pressure was very low. You have to inflate the tyres with +3 PSI from the tire pressure that appears on the device VS what's shown in the car, tested on a BMW X3 and my Z, both needed 3 more PSI but all good.

When I went the Lime Rock after each hot session I had to deflate the tires back to 32/29. I did notice that the left tires were inflating 3psi more than the right, since Lime Rock is mostly right turns, load goes to the left tires. Next time I go I want to try offsetting the pressure before doing laps. So left tires will be 29/26 and right 32/29 to see if they equalize during the session. And when going on a race track, would you still inflate at 32/29 as per manufacturer’s recommendation or would under inflate at the start of the day. And if so by how much?
