Good to know. I’m not going to worry about it but in the future I’m going to figure out which is the largest one that will fit. In theory the larger the filter the more filter area so it should flow better over time as it gets dirty. I myself will never go long between oil changes. I’m going to stick to the 3k target. I might locate my nearest Amsoil dealer and get their filters.

Agreed. The original filter is on super tight. I had to use duck tape and an over the cap filter wrench to remove it. I had to put the ratchet on the cap and then cap on the filter. Otherwise it wont fit.

When I originally bought my filter at Nissan, they gave me the 65F0E part. Then I asked to get the 9E01A. They mentioned it might be a tight fit due to length. Joining this forum and watching Z1 oil change video showed the 9E01A filter would work. Now I will need to buy the oil filter wrench Psilo and Zilla shared.

I removed the undershield completely. Ive had bad experience with plastic undershield never going back to the original shape. Im considering the Z1 metal undershield that is a 2 piece set up to do the oil change.

I am thinking the same thing since you can just separate the Z1 metal shield. I didn't like bending the stock one (it got in the way too) and I was too lazy to remove the entire shield.

Update: Yup. I ordered the shield :)
It's an extra $65 to get the black anodized one so I just got the unpainted aluminum one. I want it more for functionality than looks. But it's on sale right now so that was my sign to pull the trigger.

I just ordered two oil change kits from z1 that include 6qts of OEM nissan oil, filter, and crush washer. I received two different filters, the 65F0E and the 9E01A. Now considering these are sold for the new Z, not sure why Z1 decided "Ah whatever the filters are the same one is longer whatever". Honestly that kind of quality control mindset irks me but if they are truly the same filter and won't cause issues then "whatever" lol.

I bought two kits because my Murano also needs an oil change. Should I use the longer filter on the Z or the Murano?

I'm using the 15208-65F1B, because that's the one that is listed as the OEM proper replacement according to the Nissan parts sites.
I think the 65F0E is the same filter with a different bypass valve pressure. I'm not about to gamble using an improper filter on my new car. I feel like if there was a better option that protects the engine better, Nissan would have used it. Especially since all of these filters are basically the same price. If other filters worked properly, I imagine that the compatible part numbers would be listed as options.
I'm not sure if I'm right or wrong, but if I use the recommended filter, it won't matter If I'm wrong.

I agree but there's always wiggle room between manufacturer's recommend and what actually works.
For example:
Motherboard and RAM. If you build systems then you know about the "compatible memory" list. According to them only those modules will work. But we all know that's not true since all types of RAM modules that aren't listed will work just fine.

I agree with you 100%. However, I don't want to find out the hard way, if I (or anyone else) was wrong. A different option may work short term, or even may work in most circumstances (or may even be better in some circumstances), but without proper testing in various scenarios, I couldn't be sure. So that's why I'm just going to stick with OEM listed on the factory parts breakdown for now.

The short one was on mine from the factory, so I'm sticking with shorty.

Im using 9E01A. Its the GTR filter that is bigger. Fits the same and clears with no issues.

Its personal preference using the 65F0E or 9E01A

Too late already used F0E on the Z. The longer filter went to the Murano as it already had a longer filter from a previous oil change at a shop. I guess Z1 put my phone call to them into consideration when packing my order.

This is exactly why I wanted to use OEM, but didn't have/know the explanation. Now that I have the reason, I know I made the right choice to stick with an approved filter!
I'm not smarter than the Nissan engineers, so I will continue to follow their recommendation.
Thank you for posting this. You may have helped people save their engines!
