Just looked at the Supra sales report for comparison. Supra barely edges out the Z with 1495 sold so far in 2024 to the Zs 1457

This is a disaster for any future of this car.

Now that the manufacturing woes are behind Nissan they really should do a relaunch of the Z to get hype back around it.

In addition to more marketing they could:
- Introduce a Sport trim (Sport Track?) that comes with most of the NISMO USA bolt ons pre-installed while keeping the price in the mid 40s.
- Introduce a Manual Nismo trim.
- Coordinate with dealerships to be trained to install the AMS Alpha 5 package.

I think the pieces are there for the Z to be a big hit but Nissan isn’t taking advantage.

I just feel it was by far the worst new model launch ever. Again, I'm waiting over 3 years and I wanted a '23 and I'm getting a '24. Manufacturing woes aside they built nothing. The dealerhips could of used the traffic also - then if it was successful offering differnt varients would have been a no brainer.

it does yes. not every VIN makes it to a customer but they are all sequenced in line like that so yours is 4783 just like mine is 0577 built

it was much easier to track VINs last year but with more than double its pretty hard to know the highest VIN range but my estimation is 4900's because I searched nissans inventory nationwide of new incoming Zs and found one in the high 4800's so its a guess based off that

If you're correct on the 4900 number - I'm lucky I got a '24. Quick question do the performance models have speed limiters

all 3 models have different top speeds 136 for sport 155 for performance and 173 NISMO

the heritage edition Zs are are still incoming so if they were all recently built they could exceed 5000 on the VIN

So those top speeds are electronically limited - I would imagine they can be removed with a tune - at least I hope. I could only hope the car is still pulling at 155 given the weight - I guess we'll see :)

It think they have to be limited because for example there is no power difference between sport and performance its the stability with no spoiler and under spoiler that is the reason for the reduced speed. and the NISMO probably isnt 20 more mph just based on the power bump

And the results for the Q50/Skyline platform mates are also pathetic. This car used to be the bread-and-butter of Infiniti - and it's a fine car with the same great chassis and engine as the Z.
But it needs an update. Ditch the funky and worthless drive-by-wire steering, ditch the pointless 300-hp engine, add the limited skip from the Z, and improve the seats. Infotainment is fine already.
Remember that sharing a platform between these products and the Z (and the departed Q60) saves significant costs, shares components, and enables a better range of products. This is, for example, the reason for the original FM platform and now the VR30DDTT. We would never have had a 350Z, 370Z, or the new Z without this. And a good part of the GT-R too.
FM dates to 2001.... but it is still nearly state-of-the-art with great geometry and is very highly aluminum intensive. And as we've seen in the Nismo Z it works great with proper tuning.
An industry analogy is GM's Alpha platform which yielded the ATS, CTS, (CT4/CT5) and Camaro - look at the terrific range of engines and suspension components shared across those cars- and the resulting fabulous world-class dynamics.
I blame the ills of Infiniti squarely on Johan de Nysschen, and the ills of Nissan on the general malaise and politics that we have heard so much about.
Nissan and Infiniti can only afford to take the very long view for product investments... that means they go electric to be competitive worldwide. You can hope all you want for more ICE but the reality is already afoot (only question is whether our market here in the US will fall back into ignorance and become uncompetitive).
Infiniti has already produced a 4-door all-electric show car (shockingly ugly, yes, but it shows the general size). If this is also the basis for the future Q/Skyline, Z and GT-R (existence of which has been hinted), and if Inifiniti will produce the hardware, this could yield a Tesla Model 3 competitor and a CUV/SUV variant. The Model 3 Performance already far exceeds the performance of the Infiniti Red Sport (or Skyline Nismo)... the announced Model 3 Plaid will go even further. Now think back to when the FM platform was originally developed - shared between the G35 and 350Z (and lets not forget the larger 4-doors and the FX) it was state of the art. IF this happens again... IF Nissan/Infiniti can finally commit to a strategy and execution... the results could be a range of products with terrific dynamics and power that far exceeds what we have now. 400 HP is only the entry point for electrc cars like this - the performance models wil have hundreds more as well as AWD to put that power to the ground.
