The added weight is the real problem for me. A primary goal should have been to reduce weight even if just by a little. How can you take this as a serious effort to build a track worthy car when it’s 3,700 pounds. I do like the looks however.

Yeah, I kind of like the front fascia of the Nismo, even if the rest of the kit is a bit try-hard for my taste. I could see getting a standard Zed and replacing the bumper cover (thus also avoiding the red accent). That presupposes that I could ever actually purchase a Z, of course ?

There are some good things here but I am highly skeptical that this will be a significant upgrade over the garden variety Z, given the weight increase. This bad boy weights as much as a 2010-era 5 Series.

Man the social media response to this is pretty bad lol. Just when I thought people couldn't hate the new Z enough, the Nismo comes out and now everyone on most platforms seems upset again. It's too bad because it's a good looking car.

Its kinda wild how negative the public is to the Z. I try to share my car on other platforms and the only positive comments come from Z enthusiasts. Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this. It's a bummer.

So many "get a Supra" comments among many other things. Like people don't want me to enjoy this car. It won't stop me though lol.

Massive disappointment, they REALLY mailed it in.

15k for a body kit and tune and maybe 1-2k of suspension upgrades.
This was expected, the Nismo has never been that much of a drastic performance difference from the regular Z.

Of course, I probably count as a Z enthusiast, but I'm really enjoying my Z. I like its looks, the 6MT, and the 400hp performance. It's not perfect, but still a hoot to drive.

I don't hate the Nismo, but I probably wouldn't buy one because of the 9AT and some of the styling elements are a bit to overt for me. I do like more subtle styling elements.

I say, if you like it, go for it. I'm sure it'll be fun to drive as well. Who cares what others think. It's your car, not theirs.

Nissan is heading the wrong direction esp. with this Nismo. It's the top tier Motorsports version and No manual?! Plus the porky weight I'm sure negates any performance advantage the 20 hp gains, and the price point.

I am biased as well, but the Supra does nothing for me. Styling is terrible in my opinion. The Z is much cleaner. Unless you plan to track the car, a Performance Z at MSRP is looking like the way to go.

Ok so people are 50/50 on the Nismo Z.

One side because it’s Auto, another because it’s ugly.

On my side, I’m happy with Auto and two I like the looks ?

From what Ive seen on Instagram, it seems more like 90/10 hate lol. Mostly because of the automatic.

When I translated the japanese press release last night the designer stated that manual is still on the table for the NISMO if customers want it. I assume it'll be added in a future model year to keep things new and fresh.

EDIT: I wonder what the HP & Torque #'s are with the NISMO intakes and track exhaust added. Those really should have been apart of the NISMO package from factory.

NISMO USA claims 12hp for the intakes. not sure what the exhaust adds

here is something I was thinking about that puts the weight into context

the NISMO is 218 lbs heavier than a manual sport model. its only 185 lbs lighter than my AWD GTR NISMO.
