This. All day. While acknowledging world events and things happen ... is the general plan for Nissan to produce this vehicle in sufficient numbers to meet the expected demand? Or will availability get strung out into years long waits with extended ADMs and then price hikes, before some folks are even able to get their hands on one?

They can't build enough. Nissan is doing rolling productions producing models in bulk and manufacturing other models at a slower rate or stopping all together. Things are going to be like this for a while and blaming Nissan for it is ignorant.

I’m not referring to the release of the actual car. I think it was obvious that would be delayed and challenging given the current state of affairs. What I’m referring to is release of information on the car itself. That has been minimal at best. Nissan has that information whether you believe it or not. You can defend Nissan all you want, but the fact we still know very little is disappointing. But then again you work for a Nissan dealership so I expect you to be bias.

When it comes to information being released I wouldn't want to give it to us monsters either. People start arguing about a 100lbs and act like the car is going to be a giant pile and handle like a Challenger. The car isn't coming with Ttops because it's not 1993 anymore but that is the last straw for people. If Nissan came out and said the 0-60 was 4.3 I promise there will be people with pitchforks and fire at their keyboards talking about how it's slower than the BMW Supra and isn't worth it. Enthusiasts are the worst people to market to because they are almost never happy because it's never enough.

I couldn't disagree with you more. My Nissan dealership (and no I will not name them) is tuning my car right away and it is covered under warranty. They regularly tune the Red Sport and get 600 at the crank. Again, I have to ask how many Z's everyone has owned? You need to find a dealership that deals in the Z and GTR. If you go to a backwoods Nissan dealership of course you'll get the standard warranty is void talk. My last 370Z was completely tuned with all the bolt ons right from new and the warranty was completely intact. The dealership did it for me. And my Z walked all over the Nismo. Again, my dealership has said as long as they do it that warranty is completely intact.

I wanna do some looking into this. Bolt ons really makes me question some things. excuse me while I go read though some warranty paperwork. god help me

So a 3.00T Supra in the states starts at 55k MSRP. So if the Z is 40-50k for the sport and performance you would be looking 5-15k cheaper. Thats a big amount for most people.

If the Z is pushing $50K US, and the rumors of the MT Supra are true, I'll seriously reconsider.

Yep, fact. As there are for every enthusiast vehicle. Which people will do anyways once it gets released. Doesn't preclude Nissan from offering up information. This painful slow roll is just causing people to lose interest. Nothing worse for a business than losing customers. Nissan hasn't exactly been a sought after brand the past decade or two. They need to rebuild their brand, and this ain't a good start. Makes ya wonder why they haven't released much. But it sounds like your post sums up what you're expecting

Eh, I dunno if I agree with the last bit. I'm not defending the release at all, but we've solidified timelines some, have a better idea of pricing (outside of just shots in the dark, now they're a little more informed shots in the dark). It's progress.

If your dealership has a history of tuning Z's and backs you then they make sure it goes through. The fine print only matters when someone is trying to not support you.

My last dealer did bolt ons. However, what is taking place now is simply remapping and slight tune to spool us the turbos in the Red Sport. They do it routinely they say and reported they are getting 600HP reliably.

I must be misunderstanding... 600 bhp with what other mods? You won't get anywhere near that with any tune alone.

hmm, for my part I don't think I was blaming Nissan, more asking questions.

Specifically, my question about Nissan's general planned Z production targets, irrespective of COVID/world issues. I'm assuming Nissan planned a capacity to produce the vehicle, with upper and lower limits?

Z might simply be a lower production vehicle in general as planned, and hence the negative impact on potential buyers acquiring, especially if it ends up quite popular. Which could be further exacerbated by COVID/world issues.

Touching on your comments. No manufacturer has control over COVID, world issues, supply issues, shipping issues so if that causes negative impacts which it already has that can't be helped. I guess you could delay the launch and launch with more units but that will just piss everyone off with delays.

If you want an apples to apples comparison if the auto Performance Z is 50k and MK5 equivalently speced MSRP at 60k is still a 10k difference. You could make the argument for the 50k auto and 55k MSRP MK5 but then your getting more features in the Z for 5K less. So the Z still comes out on top.

As for information roll out I personally would like all of the info be dumped and be done with it but I understand why it's not. There are teams of people paid way more than I am that do marketing research and have decided this is the way it will be done. As for the rebuild the smart move would be to say screws the enthusiasts and focus on EVs as that's were the market is heading. Nissan is reviving the Z after it's slow death in the 370Z and talks of the R36 mean the brand is reviving. Almost every commuter model has been remodeled in a great way as well.

If you have spoken to someone who actually knows what's going on in Nissan by all means take time out of your day to find this out. I'm just trying to help any way I can, not complain on a forum page.

What I'm curious about is if it's actually the dealer that's doing the warranty and not Nissan. Manufacturers aren't kind when it comes to how they handle their warranties and Nissan may be one of the worst. I mean it pretty much took a class action lawsuit to get Nissan to pay for the CVT issues they had from 2012-2016. I'm not saying the dealer is good on the warranty of your work but I'm curious if it's the actual dealer that is holding the warranty not Nissan.

I wish it was that easy. Realistically it's 450whp with tune and a bunch of supporting bolt-ons. 480 - 500whp with E85 and fuel pump upgrades. Next stage, is injectors, bigger turbos etc, for 600 - 700whp

The east coast are the biggest offenders of lack of knowledge and MSRP hiking for everywhere I've spoken with. Florida, Virginia, New York, and New Jersey were the worst offenders with New Jersey having the highest MSRP mark up I've heard to date at 30k over MSRP.

AMS Performance has proven light mods and tuning can get you to 500HP, 600HP is a stretch though.
