  1. A Great Conversation with Dan Passe on 2023 Nissan Z [Specs, Release, Pricing]

I agree about not paying markups. Now that I know the situation isn't looking good for available inventory, I'm going to put the Z out of my mind for a while. I'll let other people chase and stress over it. We need to remember that this is probably the worst time in car history to buy a new or...
  2. Some perspective on the Z Launch!

There's a term widely used in the electronics industry. You may have heard of it. It's called a 'paper launch'. Basically, a company announces, demos, and provides review samples of a highly anticipated product. A release date for this incredible product, with a great price, is given to the...
  3. A Great Conversation with Dan Passe on 2023 Nissan Z [Specs, Release, Pricing]

I would think the average person in the US will be able to order a Z as soon as they are able to, this summer, and have it delivered by early - mid 2023 at the latest. But I’m seriously looking at going with the Supra if they offer a manual. But I’m sure demand will be high on that too.
  4. A Great Conversation with Dan Passe on 2023 Nissan Z [Specs, Release, Pricing]

So I spoke to my local dealer. They said they are slated to get one Z, only ONE, in the first phase and probably won't see it until late summer, and the waiting list is already at 10 people. I have a couple other, larger Nissan dealers around me that I haven't checked with, I'm hoping the...
  5. Some perspective on the Z Launch!

I enjoyed reading your analysis, but there's one big glaring flaw. The other cars you mentioned, C8 and Bronco, were being brought to production at the beginning and a year into the pandemic, respectively. Both vehicles were announced before and early on and had a very high interest that didn't...
  6. A Great Conversation with Dan Passe on 2023 Nissan Z [Specs, Release, Pricing]

Maybe delayed was too strong a word. I was only responding about the lack of information from Nissan regarding performance, price, etc.
  7. A Great Conversation with Dan Passe on 2023 Nissan Z [Specs, Release, Pricing]

Sorta my point, maybe they delayed rollout by adjusting and finalizing the vehicle right up to the last minute, now they're waiting for all the approvals/paperwork to go through.
  8. A Great Conversation with Dan Passe on 2023 Nissan Z [Specs, Release, Pricing]

We don't know that they've started mass production or not. Is there any evidence of this? Which means final tweaks and adjustments can still be made. I can agree, major change is unlikely at this late stage, but they can also still be working on tuning and finalizing the engine response/output...
  9. Z with VR30DDTT twin-turbo V6 3.0L good for 400-500hp?

and I would throw in that there are more things that can potentially break and go wrong with a V6 and therefore be more expensive to maintain. An inline 6 engine in general is has many advantages over V6. Better balance, one cylinder head, one turbo, one intake, etc, etc..
  10. A Great Conversation with Dan Passe on 2023 Nissan Z [Specs, Release, Pricing]

The Pathfinder has been great and I have no major complaints in the almost 1 year of ownership. I can be picky about my vehicle's likes and dislikes so I don't say that lightly. And.. I really appreciate that it takes regular unleaded fuel.
  11. A Great Conversation with Dan Passe on 2023 Nissan Z [Specs, Release, Pricing]

Maybe 500 engine hp, not to the wheels. About 450 to the wheels. makes sense. E85 will get you closer. And it's about $4k in mods.
  12. A Great Conversation with Dan Passe on 2023 Nissan Z [Specs, Release, Pricing]

I wish it was that easy. Realistically it's 450whp with tune and a bunch of supporting bolt-ons. 480 - 500whp with E85 and fuel pump upgrades. Next stage, is injectors, bigger turbos etc, for 600 - 700whp
  13. A Great Conversation with Dan Passe on 2023 Nissan Z [Specs, Release, Pricing]

If the Z is pushing $50K US, and the rumors of the MT Supra are true, I'll seriously reconsider.
  14. A Great Conversation with Dan Passe on 2023 Nissan Z [Specs, Release, Pricing]

One thing you're forgetting, Nismo = more power and performance WITH factory warranty. Also, intakes, exhaust, and tunes are easier to measure but a lot of other after market stuff has no real data to backup their claims. For example, spoilers, wings, suspension bushings. The new chin spoiler...
  15. A Great Conversation with Dan Passe on 2023 Nissan Z [Specs, Release, Pricing]

We can stay positive. It's possible they don't want to provide firm performance metrics yet because they are using every minute they have to work on delivering the best performing Z they can. ?
  16. Z Roadster rendering ?

I'm sure most of us have already seen these renders by now. But I'm blown away every time I look at them. This is spot on for what I imagine the Z Roadster should look like. It's a beauty. Who else thinks Nissan should build this?
  17. Honda Civic Type-R Discussion - 5th & 6th gen (2017+)

Yes, it's annoying. I think they should just show it already. But they are generating buzz and anticipation. The camo hides the best part about the car, which imo is the wide rear fenders and meaty tires underneath. the best picture of this is at the gas station. I'm looking forward to seeing...
  18. Take the Golf R off your list...

I was really looking forward to this new gen so it was a big let down for me. A performance car with haptic controls on steering wheel makes no sense. I guess the marketing people were in charge this time around and nobody actually drove the car.
  19. Current gas prices in your area? / Oil News

I agree, wages don't always increase at the rate of inflation. But the fact is the dollar doesn't go as far it used to. This nifty chart factors in inflation and gas mileage of vehicles. We have a ways to go before we hit 2008 levels...
  20. Take the Golf R off your list...

Agreed. There are many valid reasons why it's not practical to have haptic controls in vehicles. Most consumers don't want them, and many car manufacturers have brought back basic things like volume knobs after ditching them for haptic sliders or buttons because of consumer demand. For VW to...
