I really like the Performance Rays, but hate black wheels. So I just had them coated with Prismatic Powders Superchrome. Added 20mm spacers all around and now pondering some RS-R springs to finalize things.

In my personal opinion, the stock performance wheels look best with a drop, the spacers make it look even more like a 4x4

Has anyone tried a square set up for the Nismo? Finding wheels that are sure to clear the front calipers have been all over the place. Trying to get maybe a 19x10 square but not sure about tire size too.

Why can't the RPF1s just fit everything easy?

Before I decided to stay OEM+, I had made my mind up on the RPF1 in a non-rotatable square fitment. If you combine an RPF1 front with an RPF1RS rear, you can get some interesting combinations. Everything from mild to aggressive, 9.5", 10", or 10.5".

Brake clearance depends on the spoke design, not the offset/width of the wheel. Different manufacturers have different face designs and assign them to different sizes.

RS05RR in 18x11 +16 is what I use for track wheels that clear the Akebono brake calipers on a Z34; however, thats with adjustable arms for custom aligment

This is the issue with going square and balancing different goals. There is more room in the rear. There is no camber adjustment in front.

18x10.5 +18 ish (CE28N) has also been used on track. Looks wonky for street

Get yourself adjustable arms and you can run whatever you want

Here's an idea if you're looking for lightweight, strength, fitment, availability - Z34 Nismo V2 Rays forged. I think it looks decently nice, front a little too much tucked in with the offset but for those ok with spacers easy fix. Needs to be verified if the V2s are lighter than V1s.

Picture I grabbed from the net.

You're right about the new(RZ34) Nismo wheel weight! I weighed mine before selling them and buying real lightweight forged Apex VS5RS wheels was the move for me. The wheels was pretty but I hate black wheels with a passion and I had heavy ass spacers on mine that added 8lbs extra in total to the 24.5/25 lb oem wheels.

VS5RS
19x9.5 (19.5 lbs)
19x10.5 (20.5lbs)

The VS5RS wheels look fantastic on your Z and strong, but light. Are they the "Brushed Clear?"

If I were to ever replace the wheels on my Z, it would probably be either these or the Work Emotion CR 2P's.

No it's Anthracite. What's funny is Work Emotion CR Kai is in my top 3 favorite wheels of all time!! I only like 5 star split spoke style wheels and they are super pretty.

for anyone thinking about the emotions - double and triple check with your dealer that you order the proper face to clear brakes

I recall an issue being only the flat (or flatter) face cleared the akebonos

Agree! For my taste, the 5 star split spoke look best for the Z. Heh, heh… I absolutely love the Work Emotions. The only thing stopping me is the cost and the wait time. Maybe when it’s time to get new tires.

I just came into a little extra cash that’s burning a hole in my pocket. Your Z with the VS5RS has swayed me towards getting a set. If you don’t mind, would you tell me where you ordered them? Any tips you have would be much appreciated, too.

So I got lucky with my set. I was ready to order a set directly from Apex with shipping costing $3900 total but then I went on FB marketplace and found a guy who made the mistake of buying the RZ34 Apex VS5RS for his Infiniti Q60. The wheels were too wide so he never mounted them and sold them to me in brand new condition for $2500. The only thing I had to do was meet him halfway between Georgia and Alabama(75 miles). So I saved a big chunk of money and got the color I wanted.

Wow! That’s a super deal for the VS5RS! The Z gods were smiling upon you. 😉
