It’s a Bose system which gives you a balanced sound. I’m not sure if a Z, the size and design of
Its inside can handle or distribute a deeper bass. I’m OK with it. At the end of the day its a very nice ride inside and out.
I hear you, but I'm just suggesting for those that want a little more oomph or think that bass is lacking that it makes a big difference when you alter the fade/balance to the rear. Again, idk the technical talk for sound, but it's almost like the sub in the back isn't activated with the stock settings and everything is playing from the same channel. It wasn't until I played around with the sound settings is when I felt the system woke up (sub actually hits now) and sounded good with different genres of music. I agree with you, definitely is a very nice ride.

I agree with this.
It would be impossible for Nissan to replicate the experience of a Bang & Olufsen system in a Bentley, BUT, I personally think they could have done a bit better.

Can you take a photo of your settings? I've adjusted mine, and the bass still seems anemic.

Replaced all Bose speakers and sub. Only keep the Amp, Now it sounds great.
Yep; it’s mid. I checked my settings, and my bass is set to almost max and it still sounds ok. I’m fine with it cause the car is such a sweet ride.

I just don’t think a Z’s design was created to accommodate deep bass. It doesn’t reflect the music like a Bentley or large Lexus. That’s just my opinion. I’ve heard the Lexus’s Mark system and it’s just on a different playing field, and the car holds it well. Just my opinion.

I have been in a Honda CRX that sounded like a concert hall. It just costs a lot.

A more powerful stereo system will also add considerable weight to your car. Big subwoofers have big magnets, need more powerful amplifiers, and then throw in stuff like Dynamat, copper power cables, etc. Something to consider...

Got to agree, the Bose system doesn't do the car justice. Sadly it's one of the reasons I had to let the Z go. Currently upgrading to the HK system in a 2026 BMW Z4. Don't get me wrong, I love the Z and I'm happy when I see one in the wild. I just miss the luxury and comfort plus performance of the BMW. Strictly a fun car and not a daily driver.

This is one of the worst systems I have experienced in the performance. Part problem is space and weight consideration. We used to have a Miata with the Bose and it also sucked and it has a layout similar to the Z. As mentioned above, turning the fade to about 90% rear helps a lot but cannot fix the main problem. I am lucky that I do not commute much so having to listen to inferior music quality is limited. There are good threads on this forum on how to fix the problem, but you need to invest time and money

I think the BOSE system is fine, it's just the spare tire sub that is terrible. I replaced mine with a cerwin vega spare tire sub and Hertz amp and the audio is vastly improved. For that install, you use the inputs for the Bose to connect to the amp and you can buy an amp that doesn't require a remote turn on. So in the end you are just running a power wire from the battery and a short ground wire. However, OP I'm not sure what you do in your situation where you don't already have the Bose wire harness to cut for signal.

it's been said that adding a spare tire in the rear improves the performance of the subwoofer.

also installing sound deadening in the trunk well and door panels can definitely improve things.
