I agree with all of the comments here. Even though I don't own a motorcycle, I do have the motorcycle endorsement and took the training. "Defensive driving" was drilled into our heads, and I think the same thing applies to the Z (or similar cars).
Thank you very, very much for taking the time to put together this video! I had sort-of researched jacking points online and in the manual, and couldn't figure out where exactly they were and didn't feel comfortable using them. I know these videos take a lot of effort, so thank you again for...
One of the reasons I bought an exhaust is exactly what you mentioned -- it's too hard to hear the engine at low speed driving. I purchased the Nismo Street and it's fantastic. It's much easier to hear the engine and time shifts. It's a wonderful, mature sound, no drone at highway speeds, and...
I love my Nismo exhaust -- I was in a parking garage last night and it sounded awesome.
One quick question - does anyone know what that sort-of "wheezing" sound on the down-revs is? You can sort-of hear it in the above video, but I notice it on mine too.
Simple: Get the Nismo Street exhaust. It's perfect, and it's Nissan so no worries about warranty. I bought mine in December and love it. There's a shop in Arizona that posted a Youtube clip of the sound that's pretty close.
I had both ANC and ASE disabled by the dealer when I purchased the car. They originally wanted $200 do remove both, and I negotiated it down to $0 as part of the purchase.
The car is very quiet without ASE/ANC. As I mentioned in another thread, it was actually difficult to to drive/shift...
I agree that the Z's clutch takes a bit to get used to. I never stalled my Evo in the 12 years I owned it, but I've stalled the Z several times (usually on hills). It just takes practice, and now I'm much smoother/able to control it the way I want. I wouldn't worry about it, and definitely...
I really miss mine. It was the best car I've ever owned. After 12 years, it was just time to let it go -- parts are no longer available, etc. I bought 3 other cars before settling on the Z as the "closest alternative". Not having AWD is a bit of a learning curve on acceleration runs ;)
Agreed - the Nismo is perfect for those people who want a better sound but zero issues/hassle with warranty/dealer, etc.
If I was going the power route, and doing all the bolt-ons, tune, etc. I'd want a true 3" exhaust. I kind-of got that out of my system with my Evo IX, and now am just...
I recently purchased the Nismo Street exhaust. It's fantastic, and since it's a Nismo (Nissan) part it's about as "OEM" as you can get. Yes, it's true that dealers can't void warranty for an aftermarket exhaust, but in this case it's simply another Nissan part and takes any question off the...
You might want to take the wheel off and inspect the studs (what the lug nuts screw into) to make sure they weren't damaged from the wheel rattling around so much. You could also check the rim in the same area to ensure it wasn't worn away in the lug nut holes.
I just did exactly this. Nismo Street exhaust installed on a Performance w/MT. I had the fake sound and equalized audio both disabled when I took delivery of the car. In my experience, the Nismo exhaust made a night-and-day difference. It is much more enjoyable to drive, and now I can...
The Costco auto program is really, really good. I recommend checking that out.
I agree with others that the special deals may not be as available as they were 3-6 months ago. A lot of the Z inventory has been cleared out, and it doesn't look like they are building many 2026 cars. I checked...
A more powerful stereo system will also add considerable weight to your car. Big subwoofers have big magnets, need more powerful amplifiers, and then throw in stuff like Dynamat, copper power cables, etc. Something to consider...
I'm in the minority here, but I was pleasantly surprised by the Bose audio system in the Performance. After the reviews here I was expecting to have to upgrade it, but I've found it's plenty enjoyable for me. I'm fairly picky about music quality (I've had several custom systems in past cars...
Yes, definitely 6 M/T :) I don't know quite how to describe the sluggish throttle/rev hang at high RPMs, but it's different than on the other M/T cars I've owned. I suppose it could also be a heavier flywheel, but was hoping it was something in the software that I could change and make more...
For the folks who are tuned: did the tune also sharpen throttle response and reduce rev hang at higher RPMs? It seems like a lot of cars these days have rev hang (I think it's an emissions thing?) but I remember seeing something on the Type R forums about a tune improving the throttle response...
I use this one and it's been great. Instead of trying to guess how much air to inflate from a compressor, you simply overfill by 3-4 psi and use the bleed button to get the pressure down to exactly what you want. I'm not sure how it works with digital gauges like the one posted above, but with...
I was just kidding with the break-in comment. There are so many opinions regarding the right way to do it, you're in the situation where you can just immediately enjoy the car! Congrats again!
