Fun times at VIR. The Nismo held up well in some miserable heat. I did experience limp mode for one brief second on track during the first day but it quickly went away after I backed off for part of a lap.

What do you think caused limp mode? Overall heat in general. Also, what was your fluid temps, specifically, oil?

It was temperature i'm pretty sure. It was only for a very brief moment on track during the first day when my oil temp hit a certain point, i think it was 270F and then as soon as the temperature dropped below that it went away. These were the temps towards the end of the session in the video,

Very nice!
What was the little bog coming out of Oak Tree?
IMSA GTD's run it in 1:45. Shows how ridiculously awesome that machinery is.

I guess an aftermarket oil cooler could benefit even the Nismo model...

Yeah it's something I'm considering more seriously now but it was just a ridiculously hot day as well. I think if I had backed off for even a fraction of a lap or taken a trip through the pits midway through the session I wouldn't have hit that limp mode threshold. My bigger issue was with fuel starvation and I was wondering if anyone knew if the new Z gas tanks are the same shape/size as the 370. I know there are surge tanks on the market for the older models but I haven't seen one for the newest generation.

Maybe this?

AMS
So I looked at that a while ago and never was quite sure if this would work the same as something like this. All the wording they use on the AMS page made me think it's more for really high horsepower builds and launching the car than it is for preventing fuel starvation on track while cornering, but maybe it all works the same in the end.
I've only run into this issue in one corner and only at VIR. It's the last set of corners before the front straight and it's not mid corner where it happens, it's maybe 100 feet down the straight i'll get some intermittent moments where the engine will quickly cut out. I make sure to fill up before every session now but once i'm getting close to half a tank it can happen.
This is roughly where it would happen

I commented on your post in the facebook group but just wanted to say those laps are really solid throughout. I watched it a few times. man I was like 2:10-2:11 in my GTR NISMO which is way more point and shoot than our Z NISMOs and can make up being a little hesitant with massive out of corner speeds. so getting into the 2:16-2:18 is really moving in the Z.

I saw you were about 98mph on turn 9 but the condos thats one part in the Z NISMO I didnt feel ultra confident just felt like the momentum would carry me off there.

you were braking about like me on that front strectch. the Z's have had a few offs there with the brakes giving out so when I see the 6 marker im braking lol

A drop-in would be the way to go. WOW at AMS's install instructions. Over 100 steps and something like 70 pages. I thought building the basket inside the tank would be the pain, Nope! No pain, no gain, though!
I agree with you about whether it would work seamlessly with a stock to near-stock setup. Surprised Radium hasn't tweaked their Z34 design for the RZ34.

Love the sound of the engine & tires, especially cutting the corners tight.

Sorry to hear about the fuel starvation (at all) as this has also plagued all the Stock 370Z Nismos ( on hard RH turns, from memory edit: yup just Google searched it: the370.com ). Stupid saddle tanks & plastic top-hats on the fuel pump. Why didn’t Nissan fix this? imho they resolved almost all the issues from the 370Z Nismo. But not this?!? Criminal.
