Hey y'all

So i'm here for my first track day event at VIR and have made a very critical error in not bringing an extra set of brake pads for my car. As you can probably guess, one of my front brake pads is now worn and needs replacement and i'm stuck here at VIR. I have called 4 Nissan dealerships in the area and none of the parts departments have anything in stock. I've gotten help from anyone and everyone I could in the paddock including the shop at VIR and nobody has been able to find a pair that would be a suitable replacement. My car is currently sitting over at quantum mechanics next to the track and I'm sitting here feeling like the worlds biggest idiot because I overlooked something that was so easy to stash a replacement for. You live and you learn :(. if there is anyone in the community who might be able to help a simpleton out with a lead on a replacement set of front brake pads for the 2024 Z nismo, I would gladly pay an exorbitant price for them

I did a 40 minute session in the morning and then 2 x 30 minute sessions after. During the final session of the day my instructor immediately felt something was a little off into the first heavy braking zone and I was at metal on metal in what felt like a couple of turns. I just feel like a proper idiot because this was specifically something they recommend bringing on their packing list. I just had my car in for service last week and honestly didn't think I was close to having the pads worn down that far (they sure didn't mention anything about the pads looking thin but I'm a grown up and should be checking that myself).

I only had my Z NISMO up there for one 20 min session but I was braking from 140 on ever lap and the brakes never faded.

My buddy owns Gunter Nissan if Martinsville VA if you want me to try to reach out to him for you

There must be some motorsports shops around VIR. I had these EBC pads installed just prior to my recent track day, it looks like they fit a variety of Zs.

Is there any aftermarket performance support for the Nismo? I would love to get a set of Ferodo's or something equivalent. I'm getting the feeling that the stock ones don't last very long.

I did 2 track days so far, and noticed that the brake fluid dropped to about 1/2 way between the high and low marks (It is by the seam on the tank). Going by that, I probably already need brakes! I can't check the pad thickness on this car, due to limited visibility, unless I take the wheels off. But I'm too lazy, obviously I will have to do that before I attend another track day. I am used to getting at least 6 track days per set of brakes on my prior car using Ferodo pads, so it's a little aggravating, but at least these pads are super cheap..

So the old 370 akebono pads won't fit? I was looking at the z1 page for the replacement pads '24 Nismo pads and they mentioned specifically that they wont fit the 14" but I wasn't sure if the reverse could still be true. I've been on a wild goose chase calling motorsports teams that run Nissan's in the area for help who were nice enough to help out and put me in contact with the guy who runs KNS Brakes. He recommended trying the 370 Akebono pads saying:
"They might fit in and be the correct width but just leave some rotor uncovered
The overall width and pin location must be exact though"

Was gonna ask Quantum in the morning either way

I wish I knew the answer to that but I skipped the entire 370z generation so don't have a great knowledge base on that set up. however I do know that NISMO USA makes an accessory track pad you can buy at a dealer ect these have been around since the 370Z and are offered for the new Z....but here is the catch they do not fit our 2024 Z NISMO. that tells me the 370z solution might not be compatible. I wish you could rig something up just to get yourself home.

these are the NISMO pads that fit the regular Z but not ours

man If I had a extra set of the OEMs here for my car I would bring you a set.

it sucks you cant visually inspect our pads without removing the wheel

I've been looking at every brand I can find and the aftermarket support is very limited from what I can tell. It looks like EBC might have some options but the only website I found selling that part number showed it not currently available. I was told that you can send an old pad in to G-Loc brakes as well if they don't make one for your vehicle. The guy i was talking with from KNS mentioned holding on to an old pad as well. I've been looking at the OEM+ Nismo pad as well recently https://www.z1motorsports.com/nismo/nismo/nismo-2023-nissan-brake-pads-rear-p-36962.html edit: those might not actually fit

I did some research on this when I bought my car earlier this year and it seems like the Nismo front caliper and pad shape is unique and only used by the RZ34 Nismo, nothing else. I even looked through EBCs entire catalog by pad shape to see if I can find any other application that uses the same shape pads, nothing.... Not even Endless in Japan offers anything yet. For now its OEM only, they are great pads but do wear very quickly. Im at 8K street miles and already %50 worn.
