That one doesn’t come with a 700 hp FPC engine…
I didn’t realize there was going to be two options this time around. That said…even with the original base engine, YOU can be in a 3sec 0-60 C8 for 70k CAD (less delivery). And IF the Z is at 70k as some speculation has hinted too (yet to be determined of course), then the C8 is very tempting.

The engine is not optional for the C8. The regular C8 comes with a 495HP V8. The C8 Z06 comes with the 670HP flat-plane crank V8. Also maintenance, repairs, tires, literally everything for the C8 will be much more expensive. You can't really compare the new Z and C8; they're in two different brackets.

True, they are in two different categories, but if the Z does start at $70k then it makes the C8 quite the option to go for. This is indeed speculative as the true numbers are not out yet. And for someone like me who only puts 5000km on a private vehicle per year the maintenance doesn’t mean much. My company vehicle takes the brunt of mileage and my personal vehicle goes on to storage in the winter as it is. Again though, until the real numbers come to fruition it is a moot point. The Z is a great car for several reasons and I hope they come in at a competitive price!

Nissan. Nissan USA would stop me from owning my first Z. If the price is unreasonable for what you get from the car, if they have horrible availability, and if they allow their dealerships to take advantage of consumers like me.

It's an old chassis, it's a "veteran" motor, and it's a Nissan level of quality interior. They have a delicate line to walk here, but they also have the opportunity to knock it out of the park and sell more than they expected.

From my guesstimate now on its performance, and the before mentioned, I'm expecting $44-46k (tops) for a loaded Performance trim manual Z. Now, if it delivers $50k worth of performance/value for $50k, cool, but I don't see that happening as they need to add an extra 50+HP/75+ftlb. I don't see it out performing or valuing a M240i, or even Supra 3.0 (which is out valued by M240i even IMHO).

M240i starts at $48k, Supra 3.0 $53k, those are both ZF autos, one is superior for daily use and AWD, the other is overpriced but wild looking but lighter RWD. Both have better interiors, both have better performance likely with sub-4's and good 1/4s. But both lack Manual experience for now. But manuals should usually cost less compared to these higher end Autos.

This is where the dealerships will and can easily outprice the value and performance of the vehicle. They think it's cool to gouge the early adopters because theyll have YouTube money or something.

Then again, they are gouging single-moms on Rogues too, so there's that...

Personally, I'd much rather see a significant weight reduction than just adding more HPs. But hey, horses for courses.

Same. But we need to be honest here, that older chassis, and the old motor with water to air intercoolers, it'll be easier and cheaper for them to make more power. I thought this this had use of aluminum already in panels and parts right?

That white thing in my avatar. The R doesnt feel like a "forever" car, but the longer I have it, the more I mess with it. The longer Nissan takes to roll this thing out, the more I'll have gotten the FK8 just right. Some day I might come around to loving it enough to decide it stays. I really do want an actual sports car and not the hot version of an affordable compact. The Zed still sits at the top of that list.

Nothing will stop me from owning a new Zee, not even death - gonna walk that shit off after they play 'Insomnia' at my funeral - then I'm going to head over to the stealership and cop that Zee . . .

this "long delayed launch" has stopped me from owning a Z ?
And no limited diff on base model also has pushed me over to a GR86......

I am done for the track, so I don't need the performance package.
I just want a square setup that is still fun on the street all year around. The base trim + limited diff would be perfect....

maybe they will make it in few years....

Ambient interior lighting and... that could be it!

I've got a sunroof in my MB now... but I can forget that for a year or two.

Already mentioned but markups. I began to clear out garage space the day of the reveal.
The Z was supposed to be my midlife crisis. Then crazy markups started to happen everywhere and I refuse to pay them

so I impulsively bought an 8000 mile 1997 Porsche Boxster in the original launch colors because at worst I drive it and break even should I ever sell it.
