During my oil change, i unplugged the oil pressure solenoid. FYI, Im still stock tuned and didnt want to have another failure point that could cause disaster if it failed

Removed the 2 bolts and unclipped the 2 plastic fasters and the bracket falls out. Hardest part was unclipping the harness

It didnt change anything visually. Oil pressure stayed the same. I was going to let it hang under the AC comp, but ziptied it to the bracket. Not sure how long the ziptie will last, and will check the condition on my next oil change. Most likely, will move it back under the comp

If you dont know, read this link from Mark Roberts at SonicTuned

Did you do anything to keep the P06DA code from popping up? Mine trips every other drive cycle if I clear it.

EDIT: I found your comments in the oil filter thread. I'll check the service manual and see if I can find some matching resistors to bridge the connector and block the code from tripping.

After 8 days of continuous rain, got the Z out for some fun today and gave her a wash and dry.

Love this car.

Finally got some basic mods done to the car this week. Installed the Concept Z Performance heat exchanger, (made by CSF) it’s huge! Also installed the AMS intakes and the CZP under shroud. If anyone is in the market the CZP under shroud is by far the best. It’s one piece and has a quick access cover for the oil change, very high quality.

Yep. Need to trick the ECU.

I took my car in for the recall and plugged it back in. I will unplug it and enjoy the CEL until I get it tuned

I’m assuming you guys know whether the solenoid is in the state that you want, and that it’s not possible to remove power and have it backwards. I have no clue, but I know I’d need to understand that. I’m curious what you all know about that.

I‘m no tuner or expert. I’m just passing along what I’ve seen and heard.

From what I understand, the solenoid in its unplugged state maintains higher oil pressure at all times (stays in the “high” mode). Some experts have said that even when the solenoid is functioning correctly, oil pressure during low pressure mode can be too low.

Per racebox:
Modern cars have an oil pressure solenoid that switches the engine oil pump from a "low" to "high" mode. This type of system is present on nearly all modern cars as manufacturers use it to maximize efficiency to meet EPA standards by running lower oil pressure in less demanding scenarios/light driving loads. Your Infiniti Q50, Q60, and Nissan Z VR30 vehicle is also equipped with such a system.

The downside is that this introduces a new failure mode. When the solenoid fails, the car is never able to enter the "high" mode. On the VR30, this results in oil pressure never exceeding 30psi. We observed this phenomenon very early on and have been advising customers to unplug this solenoid and unplugging it ourselves on in-person tunes when needed.

It is a concern for vehicles that are pushing more power than stock and are tuned. When it fails, oil starvation is present and catastrophic failure occurs.

Is this important for stock without a tune, probably not. Is it better to be safe, definitely. To get rid of the CEL, you will need a tuning device that can remove the error

I saw no difference in oil pressure when I had it unplugged
