I just found a 2024 Nismo Z at a local Japanese car dealership for $46k with 4k miles on it.

It's a big new car dealership, so I expect the title to be clean, but if so, I'm surprised at the price. I'm not sharing the link to it because I'm strongly considering it, but is that how bad the resale value is, or could this be a red flag? I always do my due diligence, but the low price is suspicious to me, unless that's expected.

What do y'all think?

I'm seeing a decent amount of used Z's with under 4k miles around me (50 miles search radius) what gives?

Personally, I've never seen a Z in the wild. I'm a bit surprised so many low mileage Z's are available

My $0.02, don’t ever buy a used vehicle without seeing the Carfax or Autocheck report. If it’s a dealership, they don’t have the report posted online and they hesitate even slightly about showing you, definitely don’t drop a dime until you see it.

I did a KBB value on my car with 1800 miles and it comes up about 52K. I'm baffled at the depreciation of these cars. Just make sure you don't buy a car that a the journalist beat to death!

Check out Cargurus.com. Do a nation wide search and you'll find 2024 Nismo's are advertised between the $45k to $55k range. Ihe lowest price I've seen on there was $44,990. Most Sports cars drop in price going into the winter months. Large dealerships prefer to blow out a sports car at cost than wait for the spring market to make a profit. It's a good time to buy if you're in the market and looking for a deal. I just picked up a brand new 25 Nismo and got a huge discount. Cheers.

Definitely check the CarFax / Autocheck reports, BUT be aware that if an accident isn't reported through insurance, it won't necessarily show up there. Best bet is to get a thorough PPI (pre-purchase inspection) performed at a Nissan dealership or ideally with a trustworthy independent mechanic.

Read on a Facebook Z group today about a guy who scored a '24 Nismo with under 10k miles from a CarMax for $45,999 (said it was listed for $49k but they discounted it after he asked them not to drill license plate holes in the front bumper and apparently they did anyway?). Not 100% sure I buy that story, as CarMax doesn't really negotiate, but it could be legit.

Either way, for a new car with a $65-70k MSRP to depreciate approximately 32% in less than a year is pretty brutal...

Maybe a loss leader.

I paid ~$60K for a 2025 Nismo in Red with lots of options & dealer extras. We best not talk about the markup on Zs in CA. I went to kick the tires on a Proto at the tail end of Covid & was thinking ā€˜no way can they charge this!’ They had padded +$28K. Pics are Jan 2023, someone bought this new but i dk what was actually paid. They declined to let me drive any Z they had in stock.

Adhere to the Golden Rule; If it’s too good to be true, then it probably is.

Do the homework, double check it, and then check it again before even considering pulling trigger.

Good luck and caveat emptor.

I agree that not everyone will report accidents to insurance. I’ve seen a used Nismo with rear end damage (at the very least the bumper was replaced)… but the CarFax & the dealer said it was clean. I gave it a pass and eventually bought one new.

Carfax and AutoCheck will NOT show everything, get a complete PPI, a must! They should know new fluids, oil, coolant, etc can mask issues. Good luck, could be true but.....

I'd ask them to certify it as a certified pre-owned. You get extended warranty etc.
