Out of curiousity, and it could be off-topic, but do you guys have the Nissan door scuff protector? Because I found that on mine, on one side, there's cavity between the protector and my door, and sometimes when I drive over specific surfaces, it rattles too. And it stops once I push the double sided tape against the door again.

I do. But I can clearly hear the noise from the back.

I think I've seen a discussion about this somewhere in this forum. But I want to make it official because I think that many; if not most, Z owners will face this issue.
My 24 Nismo tailgate rattles a little bit when driving over rough pavement. I took it to the dealer and they made a little adjustment. It worked but just a little bit.
The service guy acknowledged that Nissan is aware of this and is working on an "aftermarket solution". They did adjust the latch... but it doesn't fix the problem.
Two questions for those who may know the answer:

1) Do you know what that adjustment actually is and can we do it ourselves?
2) Does anyone know about this aftermarket item?

Thanks.

Yes, mine does same thing. I tried to adjust the latch down to tighten it up, but there was no room to move it. I ended up placing a couple of rubber grommets (about 1/16" thick) I had laying around in the two little "pockets" just above the taillights. This is where the rubber bumpers on the hatch hit. These should have been adjustable. That effectively put more tension on the hatch when it is closed. It did make a difference, as the rattle is less frequent. Mostly on very rough roads or bumps. Since this is an electric release, I am not sure if the extra force on it will wear it out faster.

I don’t have this issue, but curious if anyone that has done work in their trunk, removed the latch cover and may have a pic(s)?
If the mechanism is bolted in and/or somehow adjustable, maybe a pic could help.

The latch in his area:

I'm having the same raddling issues coming from my back hatch area on my Z Performance. Mine sounds like a loose nut raddling around when going over rough roads.
Is this the same noise you guys are hearing?

OK, this looks like today's project then! I've done the popper trick and that helped with some noise and also the hatch release, but since going to firmer suspension I have this annoying rattle on rough surfaces. Will report back with how I go.

UPDATE: I pulled all the trim out and the noise was still there, very noticeable without all the foam and carpet! None of the areas covered in that video seemed to be the problem, but with everything back together it's potentially a little worse now so I'm possibly on the right track. Will keep trying.

FYI there's a follow up to the video posted above, he finds it in the actuator motor/gearing for the rear latch. I've taken mine out and added some grease, but the noise was too minor to be the problem.
