Exactly no one is paying $10K over or even MSRP anymore! This is the same type of disagreement that was always going on in BMW forums I belonged to. Folks with basic 3 series would always talk about how they could mod it to make it better or competitive than 3 with Sports package or even M3. In the buy what you want and enjoy it.No one is paying MSRP for these depreciating buckets. So the $10k argument is moot. Performance are far more discounted than the Sport too. Then the argument further blows up when you talk gently used market.
Most of the manuals were snatched up already. But truthfully I have no idea what the production number split is betw auto and manual.when I went looking for my z I didn't even see any sport trims, plenty of nismos and a few performances. none of them were manual
I got a Sport model with an automatic transmisssion. The Auto is quicker and you can still shift full manual mode, just don't have to use your left leg, and the LSD doesn't really matter with the AT. I knew I was going to swap the wheels no matter which model Z I got so why pay for the rays on the Performance model. Don't care about wireless Android or Apple car play, a simple usb cable fixes that and keeps your phone charged. The interior of the Sport is the only real drawback but that can be remedied easily - I had the seats and all the clothe trim replaced with Katzkin leather. Now have a car like I want it and still have several thousands less in it than what a Performance model would have cost me.Hello, this is my first time posting in this forum, its actually my first time posting or even reading any forum. I've been reading a good amount of threads lately and its actually pretty interesting.
Anyways, I've been wanting a Z for a very long time now, I'm crazy for it, specifically the boulder grey one and I've been wondering about the trade off between a performance.
I know pretty much all the differences between the sport and the performance and right now the market value is pretty even between a brand new sport and a slightly used performance. While the performance has some very very appealing additions, I'm questioning if its worth getting a sport if it means I'll be the very first owner.
If it were up to me I would 100% get a performance but the issue is my current car (2018 Mercedes C300) is giving me way too many issues and i do not want to pay the ridiculous repair costs of a German and I'm hoping to get out of it as soon as maybe even the end of this month, that being said, while there's a good amount of brand new sport trims sitting in dealer showrooms and lots, there's not that many slightly used performance trims laying around.
if you were in this situation and christmas comes around with no performance trims around, would you do a sport trim?
SZ comes with a 8 inch screen while the PZ comes with a 9in... and you are right, performance has launch control with no lift shifting(kinda wish the no lift shift wasnt only when launching) and rev match ofcno one mentioned about performance trim has a bigger infotainment system screen!
jk.
but it does have a bigger screen.
correct me if im wrong.
performance trim has launch controls and rev match(6mt)
and sport trim does not?
I'm definetly ONLY looking at performance right now. I plan on dailying this car and I doubt I'll ever try to put a lot of power or track it until a few years, so I definetly want the performance cause I value the small little things it has over the sportLotsa mud-slinging but really to each its own, personal reasons. To the OP, basically you have to drive both and decide what’s important to daily a Z, entry price being similar with a fully inspected low-mi ZP vs a new ZS.
I originally wanted a ZS to build it into a dedicated track Z, starting with a lower, lighter Z with lower content, and build it the way I want it. But priorities changed, I’m keeping the track Cayman S and continue to build that for the purpose. The ZP will now be mostly street with occasional track. ZP with just upgraded sways, tires, maybe coilovers and better sounding exhaust will be more than enough for canyon and street drives. Much tighter handling now, really wakes up the Z. No need to change brake pads fluid etc. for street. I really love the interior and comforts for daily, huge improvement over base.
Let us know what you came up with.
How did you do that to your interior? Who sells that package?I got a Sport model with an automatic transmisssion. Katzkin makes the leather seat covers and the door panels and I think they do the other trom too but I'm not 100% sure. How did you do that to your interior? Who sells that package?

Looks like good work. What shop did you use? I’m in Murfreesboro. I was thinking about getting the interior accents done in Recaro confetti or HKS monotone oil slick to match the vintage JDM aesthetic.I had a local car upholsterer here in Nashville, who is a Katzkin installer, do the seats and I asked them if they could do all the clothe trim and they said they could so they also did the doors, dash, and knee pads in the same leather for me.
