This is the post you see from someone having a hard time coping with the fact that a Sport Z with $5k in suspension, brakes, and tires will absolutely walk a “Performance” Z, open diff and all. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Yep whatever you need to say so you can feel good about purchasing a lesser car is alright with me! The key words are mods that might make you competitive. Right now could your SZ walk away from a PZ we all know the answer. I personally don’t care what anyone says spend your money on what make you happy.

I totally agree, but You're not saving enough to go base model. Period. The sport is already way too much money.
I agree . Sport should have been 37K but it wasn't. But aaaaa its all good. I'm in the Z. I love it. Everyone like what the like at the end of the day. Enjoying this car.

I'm not walking, racing, or drag striping or tracking. Nothing to prove. Loving modding for the fun of it. Eventually turbo upgrade, fuel system upgrade , more suspension upgrades and the BBK big boy brakes upgrade after the LSD. House is paid off. Pension guaranteed and No gold diggers in my wallet. I'm good and happy 😊

It seems Ego is trying to justify them paying $10k more 🤣

Never again leather guy or luxury car guy. I just want pure performance. No need for heated seats and apple play and other stuff on the infotainment screen.

No one is paying MSRP for these depreciating buckets. So the $10k argument is moot. Performance are far more discounted than the Sport too. Then the argument further blows up when you talk gently used market.

I love this banter here. Thanks fellas for making my day go so quick. A car is not an investment except a Ford GT or 1978 911. Sport for those who want to swap out the seats, wheels, diff and build it the way we want too. Starting with a blank canvas and painting something to my liking. Take money out of the equation. This car will rust and decay eventually. I will get my fun out of it and move on literally and figuratively.

no one mentioned about performance trim has a bigger infotainment system screen!
jk.

but it does have a bigger screen.

correct me if im wrong.
performance trim has launch controls and rev match(6mt)
and sport trim does not?

Lotsa mud-slinging but really to each its own, personal reasons. To the OP, basically you have to drive both and decide what’s important to daily a Z, entry price being similar with a fully inspected low-mi ZP vs a new ZS.

I originally wanted a ZS to build it into a dedicated track Z, starting with a lower, lighter Z with lower content, and build it the way I want it. But priorities changed, I’m keeping the track Cayman S and continue to build that for the purpose. The ZP will now be mostly street with occasional track. ZP with just upgraded sways, tires, maybe coilovers and better sounding exhaust will be more than enough for canyon and street drives. Much tighter handling now, really wakes up the Z. No need to change brake pads fluid etc. for street. I really love the interior and comforts for daily, huge improvement over base.

Let us know what you came up with.

I get the wheels and tires I want. It doesnt look like every day traffic with stock setup. I can get better audio speakers, subs, and amp, non heated or powered racing bucket seats and still have money for dinner at a 5 star restaurant.

To each their own
They barely made any of these cars. So having different wheels will not make you stand out

I have only seen one other one on the road since the new car was released in 2022. Crazy when you think about it. Driving it definitely feels somewhat unique from that perspective.

Correction. They barely sold any of these cars due to Dealer greed. Which caused Nissan to stop production at the beginning of 2025

Im not here to stand out. I make mine look different than stock. If you want to stand out, thats your decision

Looks like you missed the OPs comment that they decided to go with the Performance for the amenities

The OP comment
Didnt mean to start a mini argument here, but I appreciate all the pieces of advice, I think performance is the trim for me, as much as I know it’s dumb, I still really like all the dumb stuff like CarPlay , heated seats and all that

I knew I wanted the Performance and would never consider the Sport.

Other buyers want the Sport and think the Performance is a waste of money.

This is why Nissan gives us choices... And I appreciate them for that. The fact they consolidated it down to two trims and not 97 various options & packages is a huge plus.

Personal preference. I went with the performance because I have no interest in modding a brand new car that is running fine. I prefer having the LSD, the spoiler, the power seats, the rev matching and the Yellow colour. If you are planning to remove a bunch of stuff and do 'upgrades' then get whichever one you want. Or get a Toyota 86 since they are a lot cheaper and just as fun (but not as good looking and the yellow option is meh)

Also keep in mind that if you daily this car, you will go from 'brand new 1 mile on the odometer' to 'gently used' territory pretty quick. And unless you are ordering direct from the factory, it still has the feint smell of the people that test drove the car or sat in it while their spouse was browsing the SUVs.
