Since my dealer charged me 230$ to disable the ASE, I will do it myself

Same situation with me; although for me, it was between the Z and the GT. Z way better choice and looks.
Had a 2019 GT PP2, great setup from the factory; kept comparing the new Z to it. Looks wise the new Z is much more fluid and a sweeter design, but that GT was filled with the goodies - Brembos, Recaros, Sport Cup 2s, drive modes, exhaust modes, etc.. - wish the new Z has or can be optioned as such. Mustang was just too big and wide for my taste, after a while driving it.

Still trying to decide, may have to give up my RB 240Z if the right new Z comes along, and has to be under $50K for a manual performance as my base for tracking.

How were you able to get the software to do this?
Pirated copies of CONSULT-III are floating around all over the place, but there's always a risk that a particular package may be unsafe.

VXDiag seems to make the only cheap compatible cable. It costs around $200 or so. My dealer charged me just under for $140 to disable ANC and ASC, so it wasn't worth it to me to find out.

230 dollars is insane. My dealer did it for free in 15 mins.
Where is the Dealer located? If Qatar, that’s not going to help me in CA. ? My dealer was hesitant to even try to do it. Even after I sent them screenshots that told them where to find it in the Consult III menus.

I’m playing with hidden menus on my Z, but haven’t found a way to reveal the options in the audio diagnostic screen. Maybe they left it out of the audio diag menus? ?‍♂

Yep Qatar, but thats quite unfortunate cause 250 dollars is alot of money ? I actually turned it on/off 3 times just to test and see if i liked it and they didnt charge me nothing.

I use the vxdiag adapter to connect the OBD. Just Google vxdiag and consult 3 you will find something useful
So i buy the VXDIAG VCX SE OBD2 Tool for $199 and install the Consult 3 plus V241 software from vxdiag. Do i need a nissan online account for programming / changes? or does this version bypass the login screen requirements like pre 2018 version?

update: I think i found the answer to my question maybe- from VXDIAG website - The Nissan Consult III Plus V241 installation process does not require a user ID or password.

Hypothetically if we changed the Bose amp, will it be disabled on the replacement by default?

Hmmm… I’ve seen pics of a little extra speaker that can play the enhanced sounds with the Audio system ‘switched off’. But change out the amp? Yes, it’s likely to stop.

Or keep the stock amp and just cut a wire that provides speed info as an input to the amp. That’s the way many 370Z owners have disabled it. No speed input, no fake sounds.

I just can’t bear to hack a wiring harness on a new car under warranty. Especially as it’s a software setting. I wouldn’t hesitate on a 6 yr old Nissan, as I would already do the majority of the maintenance myself.

I almost got this done for no charge.

I rolled in early at my local Nissan dealership and i talked a service tech (not one of the official “tech guys”) into turning ASC off. he had the laptop connected to my car with me guiding him to the ASC feature. he selected the “ASC” feature and the software (consult) asked for login info that he did not have. So close. so i waited for the tech guys, along with the boss - at that point they were “too busy” and wanted me schedule an appointment for $180. One down and 5 more dealers in reasonable driving distance…. what a PITA…

So, would it be easier to buy a nismo part, have them install it and possibly ask for them to disable the ASE? 😬

I have another option that requires them to change out my radio but In the past when I tell them about multiple issues they only focus on one 😒

It took me two dealerships to get this done at no charge.. The first one didn’t workout - i was talking to the wrong person. He tried to help but it just didn’t work out.

Print a copy of the ASC enable / disable screen shot. Walk in and track down the service manager or director and show him / her the screen shot and explain that this a <15min. task. Then ask when is a good time to come in. if they understand what you need, you have a better chance for a freebie.
