RZ34 Nismo Tires Suggestions

For someone who will daily this car and track this car once or twice a year at most, what are some tire suggestions? Are Michelin PS4S still the go to option?

Personally, I like the Conti ECS2 and they are a bit less expensive than some... But I live where it’s mostly dry. That lets me run a Summer tire on the Nismo all year round. I dk about tracking them, someone else can chime in on that.

Yes, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S is always a safe bet. Performance in the wet should be better and it’s going to be a bit longer wearing.

the 2027 NISMO is getting a tire change they are getting the new Dunlop Sport Max RS that might be an option if you want to keep similar to what you have now but an ( slight?) upgrade

To my knowledge the Dunlop's RS are a downgrade from the GT600's, they might be better for daily and all weather conditions but by no means better at the limit than the GT600.

The OE Dunlops are pretty nice on track. I have 2 back to back track days on my Nismo, and once the tires are up to temp, they grip pretty well. I do only have those two HPDE days under my belt along with a few autocrosses, so I am no expert.

The tire I'm talking about was only released within Japan maybe a year or so ago. I can't even find it for sale anywhere online yet. It's classified as a super ultra high performance. The 2027 Z Nismo has a reworked suspension and better handling so I can't image they chose a lesser tire than what's on there now.

the OP said they’re daily driving the car, I don’t think super car tires are necessary. Certainly not economical.

get some 18’s and throw on some 200TW tires for your track days

i run Falken FK510 on the street with 19’s and switch to Nexen Sur4G in 18 for track

I know what tyres you’re talking about from all the info I’ve gathered and several AIs, they seem to be more predictable but not as high performance as the GT600 but we’ll soon find out.

After a few track days I’ll see how the GT600 are, but chances are I’ll be on AD09 or Cup 2s after the GT600s.

The last pic above definitely says Sport Maxx RS

I have experienced the poor performance in the wet with my ‘25 Nismo on the Dunlop SP SportMaxx 600’s that came on the car. To say Wet performance is Moderate & prone to hydroplaning is understatement!

Get them wet at all (like driving though a puddle in the curb) and you can easily fishtail & spin out on quick acceleration. Absolute garbage!!!

I’ll be changing them as soon as I have the $$ (end of the month) for a set of Michelins or Conti ECS2s. I’m glad Nissan changed tires if they’re better for wet weather & normal driving.

Don't think if you jump onto some PS4S that they will save you, all tires have their limits. Like I've said before that crazy crash in Japan with a Z Nismo was on PS4S, so their not the holy grail either.
But indeed the GT600s in the wet and cold are dreadful to the point that I don't even know when I'll understeer or oversteer. But I did learn that in the wet if the temperature is above 19C they do grip way better than I expected.

I'll be jumping onto some AD09's when these GT600 are done, they have immense grip in the wet and are very good on track.

My first set of PS4S only survived about half their warranty, from 7/32 new down to 2 and 3 on the rears. Zero track use, southern state summer highways mostly.

Been happy enough with them to put on a third pair. If I get the same miles this go-round I may try a longer lasting all season.
