Agree, mostly. Number 2 is where it's at if planning on extended tracking, whole day sessions. But, I'd switch #3 with #1, our brake system is the weakest, most dangerous link, again for lengthy sessions, very prone to fade, fluid boiling, warped rotors, etc. Get that taken care of, confidence and peace of mind. Then comes tires. Z's 'greasy' S007s lets you know the car's limits quicker, learn it, not over pushing, more of speed control. Once comfortable with the limits, then upgrade to for example 200TW tires.

I've got XP12/XP10 ready to mount with RBF660, then I'll be happy. RE71RZ set is on-deck too.
Sounds like similar to my old 370z, just with added heat exchanger. I would probably grab a set of endless ME20s / fluids + set of v730s and see where to go from there

thanks all for the help

Is that the Dorman aluminum "OE Fix" pan? Or is that one of the ones from CZP or similar?
Dorman - nothing but good things to say about it, and at an attractive price point. Magnetic drain plug, increased capacity, complete drain, new gasket, etc.

And my neighborhood auto parts store stocks it. Thanks for conforming what I suspected - best price and option really...

Last I checked, RockAuto has the best price, but Walmart & Amazon also carry it. Some of the auto part chains mark it up rather heavily.

Hi all,

Thinking of picking up a RZ34 as a track car, I used to track a 370z and want to get back into the platform. What is minially needed to just run reliable consistent laps? since the platform is similar, I assume some issues might still present

My last 370Z had some issues needed to be addressed, wondering what's still there
- Fuel starvation, mine starved below 75% on 200tw and aero, so I had to just fill up all the time and do shorter sessions
- Oil cooler
- ICE mode, I would run into ice mode sometimes
- Bad VLSD, but new one has torsen so that's good

Does RZ34 need to have any heat soak issues addressed? I don't mind a little bit but I saw that they might heat soak more than acceptable stock.

leaving out consumables etc since thats needed for every car

Thanks in advance, pic of my old 370z

same chassis with a few hundred pounds more weight and a turbo engine, so the formula is the same, you just need a ton more cooling on everything

The main difference is you have more options now, since the market has embraced more track-oriented options

Ohlins and Nitron make coilovers for us now
Many companies will built you coils with custom rates
All the SPL is still available, except now in red/silver with a nismo logo if you want

AP Racing supports the platform now, you may want to look at their RadiCAL or 9XXX line. They have different versions now, but this is real quality stuff
Z1, Stillen, or custom brake ducting will also help
If you are staying with stock calipers, Paragon has been getting pretty good reviews for a few years across all platforms. They have superior venting than the cheapass stuff from Z:
https://paragonbrakes.com/2-piece-rotors/nissan/z-rz34.html

you will want to call OS Giken for a 1.5 way, they can also built you a diff to spec

Tire options are limitless, you know the Z can fit anything. 275s all around minimum, 285s easy, 315 has been done

If you have a Z34 you know that interior space can be a bitch depending on your size, but Recaro and Sparco buckets are more or less mandatory with a 4point ASM or 5pt setup

Looks like your Z was built to the point of aero so this is all old stuff probably

CJ Motorsports has all sorts of oil and fuel upgrades, as he more or less mastered those systems on the Z34. Give 'em a ring and see if he can build you something for the RZ34
https://cj-motorsports.com/collections/370z

oh yeah, the new hotness is an aircup setup so you can get over ramps and bumps easily even with aero. See: Stanceparts or Sakebomb

Thanks for all that sweet info, sounds like its basically the same as the last car but with management needed on heat soaking, even the same support companies lol

I never did get around to letting you drive mine. That would probably help.
