I got a call today from Nissan on my 2023 Z. Lady that called spoke very fast and I thought she said it was a steering column issue. She called my local dealer and connected me to set up a fix. When she bailed, the service tech said the ONLY recall showing is for a re-torque of the front bumper mounts. Said a couple hours to remove bumper face and torque. I asked him to double check a steering column issue and again said just this one recall.

If any one hears or have heard of the steering column recall please post.

I got a couple of strange recall messages in the past few days as well, one by phone and one by e-mail. The wording was strange, which made me wonder if it was legit. In any case I do plan to have the bumper issue taken care of in the next couple of weeks.

Is this for all 2023 Z’s? Please keep us posted when you do. I’m hesitant to let Nissan techs touch my Z…

I'm hesitant also. I just know they won't get the bumper face put back in place as precise as it is from the factory. I've been receiving weekly emails from Nissan reminding me of the recall. Today, I received an email saying they had opened case based on my contacting them about the recall (I didn't contact them) and provided a case number.

This afternoon I received a phone call from Nissan support advising me of the recall. I told him I was very familiar with the recall and I was reluctant to let the dealer mess with my body work. He said he understood, and asked if I wanted him to connect me to a dealer to schedule an appointment. I told him no and he said OK, gave me a toll free number to call if I needed assistance and hung up.

For those that have had this issue fixed, are you happy with the way they put it back together?

I got a call today as well. Super hard to understand the lady but it was about the bumper reinforcement bracket or something. I dont want a dealer touching my car for that lol. Ill likely walk away with more problems.

Oh I’m sure it was legit especially if they asked you to go to Target to purchase 10 $100 gift cards then provide them the number behind the scratch off so that you can get your complimentary service to get this issue fix. 😜

I was stupid enough to do this today. I had an appt for 1:00 and I arrived a couple of minutes early. The service writer said the only tech qualified to do this was at lunch and would be back in half an hour. 45 minutes later, they told me they had moved the car into a bay. 45 minutes later, they told me it was going to take longer than the original estimate of one hour because it was a lot more involved than they had realized because they had to remove the bumper. A few minutes before 5:00 they said they were done. I told the service manager this was unacceptable. Why schedule an appt when the only qualified tech is at lunch? How can you not know what you're supposed to do before you start? He explained the tech had never done this recall procedure before and needed an extra pair of hands to hold the bumper and no one was available for a while.

Things look OK but I'll check more closely in the am.

Hell will freeze over before I set foot in that dealership again.

If you can, post pics where the bumper lines up with the fenders etc. I’m curious if it looks as it should be .

Oof. Sorry you went through that. It's the exact experience I'm dreading.

You can log in at nissanusa.com to check the recall status for your particular car. The app also has the information, if you can get it to work. I fought with the app for 10 minutes this morning, and I couldn't get logged in.

According to the voluntary recall notice, both 23'sand 24's are affected.

For my part, I haven't had any mail, emails, or phone calls on the issue. I called both my Nissan dealer and the local Nissan dealer (I didn't buy from the local Nissan dealer. They have a good service department but...uh..."difficult" sales floor. Neither place had a clue about this recall.

eta: I also looked up my vehicle (2024 Perfromance Z) on the NissanUSA owner's portal and under the "RECALLS" tab, it says "NO RECALLS".

Had my front bumper bolts checked and tightened at my local dealership. Did not notice any bumper placement issues. Happy with the results 😊
