    New Member Introductions

I've had two 370Z's since 2011. They were fun to drive and had a lot of power...but the first time I put my foot into my new RZ34, I must say...I was shocked. Not long after I brought it home, my wife wanted to drive it. She's a competent-but-not-particularly-aggressive driver, but as we were...

I never drove the Z32TT but I did have the original Turbo Z (the S130 280ZX-T). That was an exciting car with 180hp and 0-60 of 7.4 seconds, which of course is now pretty puny compared to current Z performance. My RX34 is the most fun car I've ever owned, and I've had 9 Z's over the years.

    who hand washes their car?

My cars have clear bra on the forward edges...I spray with bug spray, then foam soap, let it sit, then use a pressure washer., followed by Rejex to minimize subsequent adherence. If they're really bad, I scrub down the clear bra with some Plexus or similar plastic cleaner. IMHO, the Rejex is the...

The 7-speed used in the Z34 was also a Jatco transmission licensed from Mercedes. Like the 9-speed, it's reputed to have good reliability in consumer use. The track is a different environment. Brainerd International Raceway is a few miles from here. Back in the day, I'd go there to watch Paul...

Current thoughts on MT vs AT

I dunno, probably too early to judge reliability of these two transmissions in the current Z platform, but the auto, "9-speed Mercedes-Benz 9G-Tronic automatic transmission with launch control, manufactured under license of Jatco and re-branded as "JR913E", is used in a variety of other cars...

    who hand washes their car?

Yes...IMHO foam cannon is superior. Looking at my post, I see why you misinterpreted...sorry for not being clear. On a full detail day, I use a two-bucket wash with grit guards. I dry the car with a 4hp Master Blaster (admittedly not a cost effective device, but I also have three dogs at home...

    who hand washes their car?

The idea relates to the idea that when you wash your car, you want a thick layer of soap between finish and your microfiber wash mitt so that you don't add to the swirls and micro-scratching. Best applied with a foam gun on your hose vs a foam cannon on your pressure washer. With a good foam...

    who hand washes their car?

Well, here's the deal that has become the standard marketing hook among the increasing number of detailing marketers. ...the gloss and shine that a car gets is a matter of the way light is refracted when it hits the paint. If the paint has a lot of micro-swirls etc, as is inevitable from daily...

    Adhesive residue on paint

For me, it was such a minor issue and took so little time for them to completely resolve that escalating the issue would have been embarrassing. Anyway, one should be careful.....no doubt some dealerships have really good detailing departments, but IME the majority absolutely do not.

    Adhesive residue on paint

My 2024 had a few lines of adhesive that were only visible from some angles and in some lights. I noticed this as I was picking it up. They were embarrassed, took it back to the shop and wiped it down with some kind of benign solvent...no big deal. Had I not discovered it at the dealer, I would...

    who hand washes their car?

I use Adams polishing pads...same pads for both Flex and Porter Cable...6 in diameter velcro backing. There's been a substantial evolution in pads over the last 12 years. I don't know if the technology is better or if they keep changing so people will buy the new ones. I seriously doubt that any...

    who hand washes their car?

Bugs are bad on the front of Z's and were impossible to keep ahead of on my 2011, so I went with a clear bra on all subsequent Z's. The PPF now gets a regular coat of Rejex and bugs just wipe off with a wet microfiber. If the bugs are really bad, I'll use some Plexus (hard to find these days)...

    who hand washes their car?

I have a Flex Orbital, but it's aggressive enough that it will burn the paint if you're not careful. I almost entirely use the good ol' 6 inch Porter Cable 7424 on a small car like the Z. Almost impossible to damage the paint.

    who hand washes their car?

Me exactly, but mostly Adams. In fact...back in the day, my Black Cherry 2011 370Z was the car on the webpage header at the Adams home page for a few months. I'm a Junkman adherent. I have a Flex polisher but almost entirely rely on the good ol' Porter Cable for a small car like the Z. For...

Current thoughts on MT vs AT

My current 2024 AT Performance is the 9th Z car that I've owned since my original 240Z that I bought in 1970. All of those previous Z's were manual transmissions, with the single exception of my 280ZX Turbo, which model only came with a Borg Warner automatic because Nissan decided that their...

It appears that I can't post about competition pistol, which occupies a fair portion of my leisure time, but I am also pretty active as a pilot, which soaks up time and money at a significant rate.

Sorry, didn't see that you were from Australia. Different policies in different markets, I guess,

    Does the tonneau cover require....

That's certainly not my experience using the same tonneau cover on 3 different Z's with rear spoilers over the last 12 years, but if you can afford it, there's certainly nothing wrong with buying the new struts. Naturally, your dealer would never sell you an accessory part you didn't need...
