Hello friends.

I spent the day painting the brakes of my Nissan Z lime green, so of course I needed to get the car in the air and remove the wheels. I've seen a few posts with pics on putting a Z on jack stands, but no vids. I made a quick video today for the masses. Feel free to put your $0.02 on the vid or tips that can make the process better. All will benefit from this input. :)

Thank you very, very much for taking the time to put together this video! I had sort-of researched jacking points online and in the manual, and couldn't figure out where exactly they were and didn't feel comfortable using them. I know these videos take a lot of effort, so thank you again for doing this!

Thank you for this. Been looking at this recently. I noticed that the jack stands were at the minimum height. I'm looking to swap out my exhaust. Is that enough clearance to do that job you think, or need to go higher?

Great stuff!!!

Can I get an in-person demonstration specifically for my Z?

And while you're at, it a lesson on installing front and rear suspension arms, coilovers and sway bar end links?

And if you have time maybe installing extended wheel studs and spacers...I mean, the wheels would be off at that point anyway, so why not, right?

awesome video... maybe you can share another vid using standard ramps for oil changes…

I loved the location for the front jack stands. However the pinch weld “flange” is not designed for support. There is a pad/lift point just inside of the flange. The flange itself is just for locating the lift point and not to be used for lifting / support.

i bent a few flanges before i figured this out. lol.

Thats why the hockey puck with a slot works so well. with the puck resting on the pad, the outside of the puck will clear the plastic trim and the slot clears the flange.

looking at my polyurethane puck, you can see the imprint of the pitch weld pad. Also note the pretty little aluminum puck would not fully cover the pad.

I might help paint the brake calipers, but wheel studs are a bridge too far.

I was painting the brake calipers, so I didn't need much clearance. If I was doing a clutch or exhaust, I'd put the car up higher in the air. If I'm putting the car up over a couple feet, I will jack it up in two stages. The first stage is to the lowest jack height; the second raise will be to the height I want. I then lower the car from the jack stands in the same way.

I did the 50mm wheel studs. The fronts has a cut out for the studs (see pic). The rears are not that easy. Just make sure the ebrake is off. You spin the hub while feeding the stud.

They fit my 12mm and 15mm spacers with stock wheels and lugnuts. You can see the nuts bottomed out on the spacers.

I installed my Nismo Street with it on 4 jack stands at the minimum setting without any problems.

3t or 6t? Seems like the 6t would be easier to work under

What did you have to remove on the rear?
Does the parking brake have to be disassembled?
