2023 Z Performance in Rosewood. Thanks for the add. I read of the Z production delays in part due to the experimental "green" paint process. Two years living now with our Rosewood Performance Z and I can see where we'll be facing a repaint (with real paint) probably within the next 2 years. This crap environmental "green" water-based paint is so delicate it clearly isn't going the distance. Anyone else seeing paint problems?

Define "delicate" and "clearly isn't going the distance".
I've had mine 18 months and it's still minty fresh apart from maybe 2 almost invisible stone chips

Let's put it in perspective: I have a 2016 ATS-V subject to the same conditions, environment, and treatment as the Z. Every bird dropping on the ATS-V washes off with no trace, while every bird dropping on the Z leaves a blemish in the clear coat. Same place. Same environment. The Z has water marks which will not buff out, while the ATS-V finish is still like glass. Oh, and the ATS-V is 9 years old and the Z is barely 2 years old. At this rate of degradation this car will need to be painted, (this time with "real" paint) probably by 2028.

Possibly a warranty issue?

I thought the bird dropping stains was something that only affected me! Washed my car, and I was like, "WT eff?!"

yeah bird dropping etch into the paint almost immediately. I had one for less than an hour and when I got it off it was too late. this was on the piano black section above the hatch glass. that area will swirl if you look at it wrong

I had mine ceramic coated, and when I wash off bird or bee poop, I'll see a little spot right after washing. But then a day later (and maybe parking in the sun for some UV exposure), nothing. Blemish is gone. Not sure if it's the ceramic or the Nissan paint.

Has either of your vehicles been waxed, sealed or ceramic coated?

Every vehicle I've had made in the 2000's has shown bird dropping scars in the clear coat, unless the vehicle had a recent wax or protective coating.

The "green" environmentally responsible paint has been an issue since the early 2000's when manufacturers adopted the new, weaker paint formulas. All brands. It's true that if the clear coat is applied thicker it'll be easier to repair and may resist minor damage better.

I have a 2021 Nissan Titan, I would think it's the same paint as any Nissan. Where I park seagulls use it as the community toilet. Holds up fine, but I don't know if it has a protective coating, certainly not something I keep up on, but maybe the dealership applied one before I bought it....

Nissan water based paint is absolutely garbage. The worst paint I have ever seen. No wonder the company is failing.

Even if you're very gentle and delicate when it comes to cleaning it you'll find light scratches/swirl marks in the clear coat.

Exactly Correct. Just more b.s. unnecessary virtue signaling.
